Carcass - Heartwork
Astounding mixture of traditional heavy metal and grindcore.
Some of the best guitar leads ever.
6523_216.jpg

Mastodon - Remission
One of the best new metal bands. Hard to categorize.
This album rules too, though Leviathan gets all the praise.

Damn, I was just about to post The Morning Never Came. Anyway, here are a few albums that I would definitely recommend:

insomnium-since_the_day_it_all_came_down.jpg

Insomnium - Since the Day it all Came Down

I've been really into this album for the past few weeks now. It has a good mix of doom and melodic metal, with some keyboards and acoustic guitars thrown in. Nothing groundbreakingly original here, but if you're into Swallow the Sun, older Amorphis, you'll like this album.

Illdisposed_Cover480.jpg

Illdisposed - 1-800 Vindication

Some catchy metal here, without going into the dreaded nu-metal genre. Definitely an enjoyable listen.

shapeofd_aod.jpg

Shape of Despair - Angels of Distress

If you're an Amorphis fan and would like to hear more of Pasi's growl, check this band out. Incredibly slow, plodding metal, but it doesn't get boring.

He Volxzorn! That album from Disillusion is amazing! Just came in and listened to the entirely album. Really good songs! So I would recommend that album for shure!
and FUBAR and Vampyrouss, thanks for your recommendations for Nevermore! Just went out to find it in some musicstore and it rocks! oh man! just ike Nevermore should sound like! thanks guys!

Nah just kidding guys!

How about this one?
novembre4.jpg
Novembre's Novembrine Waltz. It's kinda doomy and proggy I guess...

And one more...

Maudlin of the Well: Bath.
You HAVE heard of these guys, right?:erk:

Fields Of The Nephilim 'Mourning Sun'

Have you heard this album? I bought it yesterday and I really like it.

Well I have quite a few favorites but heres two:

Cradle Of Filth - Damnation And A Day

Nile - In The Beginning

Well Cradle Of Filth is one of my favorite bands and thats my fav album of theres it has some great real heavy songs on there and some awesome riffs.

Nile is pretty new to me but I love this album, my friend said i should check em out and he was right!

If these have been recommended before, I don't care. They deserve the recognition.

lykathea.jpg

Lykathea Aflame - Elvenfris

If you like brutal and melodic death metal, then you will love this, because this really is both. To bad they only released one album before splitting up.

Estatic Fear - A Sombre Dance

Doom metal with grunts and female vocals. I'm not really a fan of doom metal OR female vocals, but this is just plain beautiful.

nespithe_normal.jpg

Demilich - Nespithe

Death metal with some strange vocals, to say the least. It sounds really great though. And the best thing is you can download their entire disco from their official website for free.

9/10
Fuckin awesome band i really dont know how to describe them... tech death maybe but yeh definately have a listen, Dave Haley on the kit goes fuckin insane and Mathew Chalk on vocals is intense.
go to the site for MP3 if u want but this album owns
standout tracks for me: Cruelty Incarnate, The Scepter of Jaar-gilon, and the Colour of Sleep.

I'm just gunna bump this post because, well, I was listening to this album today, hadn't listened to it for a fucking long time.. and man.. does it own.. Seriously, if you feel like exploring the realms of Aussie Death Metal, this is your starter. Fuck the fact that it's Australian, I don't listen to all that much Death admittedly, but this is probably my favourite Death Metal record. Full stop (or period - fucking yanks).

Not really metal but Preston Reed. That man's a one mad acoustic geetar band!! This guy shreds!! Don't really listen to much straight up metal much anymore.

of course i listen to music. i have forgotten more music than youll ever hope to know in your lifetime. regardless...i already did suggest a handful of metal albums, i guess you just werent paying attention. but for those who want some more, heres a couple other suggestions...

Resurrection - Embalmed Existence
Evoken - Antithesis Of Light
Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
Disincarnate - Dreams Of The Carrion Kind
Eucharist - Mirrorworlds
Bethlehem - Suizid
Dawn - Slaughtersun

all of those are tier 1 metal albums that if you dont like, you probably have no business listening to the genre.

I just heard some clips on amazon from Dawn...WHY THE HELL HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THEM BEFORE?!!! i love it, I def have to get it soon.

Ok here are some recommendations from yours truly (then im off to nap).

Lengsel - Solace
lengsel.jpg

One of my favorite albums, very cold atmosphere and unique Black metal that includes really nice acoustic interludes (not unlike Opeth). featuring 3/5 of the current Extol Line-up. 10/10

Glass Casket - We Are Gathered Here Today...
we.jpg

Death Metal/Metalcore done right. Flat out annhilates. Debut album, features the current drummer and 2nd guitarist of Between the Buried and Me. 8/10

Autumn Leaves - As Night Conquers Day
autumnleaves_asnight.jpg

Danish Melodic Death metal, very good stuff and sadly overlooked by many fans of the genre. Unfortunately, also, they broke up not too long ago. Rockin album nonetheless. 8/10

Everyone should check out some Bathory as well

Hammerheart

Blood on Ice
