So now Hollywood is pissed at Obama for not supporting SOPA. Check THIS out:

"The moguls are reminding Obama et al that, in the words of one studio chief, “God knows how much money we’ve given to Obama and the Democrats and yet they’re not supporting our interests.'"

Wow, so they're basically admitting that they've been bribing politicians (even though everyone has known that for years).

Hollywood and the mainstream music industry hold very little of my interest aside from classics like Star Wars, Back to the Future, cable channel programming like True Blood, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, etc., and now that they've basically told on themselves and shown their true colors, I'm happy to report that unless it's some amazing film like the aforementioned or some amazing band like Mastodon on Universal, I'll NEVER AGAIN BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM THEM AND I WILL DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING FROM NOW ON.

Cable channels have better series and mini-series anyway than any Hollywood film. I'm going to enjoy watching them go down in flames. Any industry who would support fascist legislation in order to make just a little more money than they already have deserves to die in a fire anyway.

The irony is that many (maybe the majority) of those who download media now, aren't going to suddenly start buying when they can no longer download.

Oh please. People will still be able to download, Sopa or no. Im more concerned about youtube. 99% of all the bands I BUY music from I found through youtube. When those jackasses make them take down the music... Seriously annoying.
Also notice how the only people who really like SOPA are big industry and people who dont use the internet?

I use the internet and I totally hate downloading shit. I think that artist's who pay for protection from the government should get it.

This reason there is such an outrage about this isn't that artists are potentially getting ripped off.

It's about giving the government complete control to censor, control, or otherwise shut down whatever they want, whenever they want, for any reason they want, without discretion.

The internet will be effectively finished once this horseshit passes.

And I don't think the government should have that type of control. but once again, if you infringe on someones legally enforced intellectual property, you should be punished fittingly.

i think its really disgusting stupid shit like this can even be brought to life at all in a country like america where we supposedly value freedom above all. the artists who struggle to survive won't gain anything from this, they'll just lose from the lack of promotion that piracy grants them. the big artists make so much anyway its not like they're living in trailers and struggling to get by, it's just greed leading to oppression.

this whole idea has been around for so long and it makes me lol that many are pretending this is some new crazy fascist threat considering theres always been someone tryign to do this in some way.

i really hope it doesn't pass but i know eventually something like this will. the internet knowledge should be free in some way and the free exchange of knowledge needs to be allowed. the greed of many will destroy the potential of enlightenment for all; i can't even imagine the sort of bullshit government and large corporation control that will happen when this all arrives, but i bet we won't have to wait long.

but once again, if you infringe on someones legally enforced intellectual property, you should be punished fittingly.

In the past, people used to be beaten or shot to death for taking something that wasn't theirs.

It's not like the laws they pass affect how I live and what I do anymore anyway. It's to the point true legality is a matter of opinion in this country.

Country of the free? Dont make me puke. Patriot Act. Look it up. 3rd world country...

Hey, can you hear me all the way back there in 2001? Didn't you know that getting riled up over the Patriot Act is old news? :p

Everyone knows by now that the police can detain you in the US for as long as they want if they deem you a threat to national security.

Kinda like in Switzerland if they catch you throwing your recyclables away with the regular garbage.

In any case, it's not like this bill is gonna pass. Whether you agree with it or not, look at the immensity of OWS. If this thing passes, OWS is gonna look like a county fair in comparison to the backlash of the public.
