Schilling is really smart. He takes notes and carefully analyzes his opponents...

I'm pretty sure most pitchers do that to some degree, but Schilling seems to be the only ones who makes a show of it.

And bringing in Wakefield to do long relief means either pulling Varitek or gambling on letting him try to catch Wakefield.

Not that losing Variteks bat is a big deal, but I'm sure they'd rather have him in the game over Mirabelli.

On a Yanks related note, I'm going to miss Joe Torre. Shitty bullpen use and all. I was hoping he'd stay for '08 then retire, but I suppose it's good to make a change. I just wish it hadn't been so ugly and I wish he'd gone out a winner. Oh well.

Maybe they'll have him throw out the first pitch next year or something. And hopefully they won't wait too long before they retire his number.
