Unfortunately, they are playing the Sox right now, and will be playing the Sox plenty more times yet this season, so they can easily gain some ground. It is entirely possible for them to catch the Sox and finish in first place. And unfortunately, I think this will happen. I'm a Sox fan, and I know better, since they've let me down so much.

Hmm. That's cool. I just watch the games and follow the games back difference. I don't know much about the mathematics of it/stats. But the Sox were ahead by 10 at one point, and then dropped to only 4 ahead in about a months time or less (don't recall exactly).

Uhhh...The Cubs and White Sox? And most of the people downstate are Cardinal fans since St. Louis is right on the IL/MO border.
