The Thread Where You Talk About Music You Like

The Diabolic Serenades by Ancient Rites is fucking awesome.

I'm planning on picking that one up tomorrow, actually. Haven't heard any of their other albums though. And thoughts on the rest of their catalogue?

Blasfemia Eternal is decent and probably musically better, but I find the vocals very weak and often annoying. The only other material I've heard by them is their split with Uncanny - which is also worthwhile.

I never got into GnR to tell you the truth...my dad lent my Use Your Illusion I & II on tape a while ago and I listened a bit to each and liked a few tracks, but overall, I wasn't very impressed...and Sweet Child O' Mine is overrated. :p

I'm thinking about buying the new Kataxu disc, on account of the sound samples I heard of it being fucking AWESOME.

I like Ween...

Ween - The Blarney Stone

Get off my ass you wee bitty fuck
If I pull out the Claymore you're shit outta luck
Who's that girl, that pretty young thing
After I fuck her she'll get up and sing

Aye Aye Aye -- sharpen your boot, and bludgeon your eye
Aye Aye Aye -- the Blarney Stone brings a tear to me eye

Down to the pub for a two shilling ale
The bread on the counter is going stale
If I don't get some fresh bread soon
Gonna punch you in your face and bark at the moon

Aye Aye Aye -- sharpen your boot, and bludgeon your eye
Aye Aye Aye -- the Blarney Stone brings a tear to me eye

Ain't got no girl 'cuz I haven't the time
Got too many other things on me mind
Patty was nice she was pale and cute
But I threw her away like an old piece of fruit

Aye Aye Aye -- sharpen your boot, and bludgeon your eye
Aye Aye Aye -- the Blarney Stone brings a tear to me eye

Got ooze in my pores my feet are all wet
Got mold in my ears but I ain't dead yet
Got stones in me bladder got a crack in me head
When Patty starts cryin' this is what I said

Aye Aye Aye -- sharpen your boot, and bludgeon your eye
Aye Aye Aye -- the Blarney Stone brings a tear to me eye

Those lyrics would go PERFECTLY to Brocas Helm's song "Defend The Crown."

I highly agree, but I would also add that so much Black Metal also rises above "Pure Holocaust." The dilemma we have here is the oversaturation of the genre.

And Bifrost rawks.

Bifrost? I haven't heard them. What style of black metal do they play?

As for your comment on oversaturation...no kidding. So many bands in black metal that had no need to ever exist.

Also, out of curiosity, what would you say "rises above" Total Holocaust? I'm not going to say that Total Holocaust is the best black metal album recorded by any means, but I find it amazing that given the amount of times I've listened to that album compared to others, I rarely tire of it. I find too many albums in the genre become boring after so many listens, the rare exceptions to this being truly great bands.
