Motorhead is the first Speed Metal band. There's two kinds of Speed Metal, really. There's the more Heavy Metal oriented style like Motorhead, early Grave Digger and Running Wild, and Exciter, and then there's the more intricate, faster, more Power and Thrash styled Speed Metal like later Running Wild and Grave Digger, Judas Priest's "Painkiller," Rage, etc. A lot of bands blur the two, however.
 
The first albums of each band you mentioned were Speed Metal, and then they moved on to Power Metal.
 
Would Iced Earth be considered speed metal, since they're often called power/thrash?
