man, I think I might have to go north of the border soon to kick some ass. my first cuz has been calling us that her hubby is beating the crap out of her.
they have a small girl like our kids age and the guy is a major asshole it seems. never met the guy but ...
just spoke with her and she was trying to reason it all out on the phone as a period that "passed" yet the last 30 seconds of the call she panicked as she saw him coming home and hung up on me in sheer terror.

thing is she's a lamb hanging onto religious values that i think is trying to reason this abuse into something it will never be.

lots of misogynistic guys use certain verses in the bible as an excuse for married guys treating their wives like crap
in the totally homophobic circles, the women get it into their heads that the one with the penis should be the one in charge in the relationship, and they enter the relationship with a "slave mentality" thinking that her boyfriend/husband should be her "master"
this relationship was already "psychologically abusive" before he actually started being "physically abusive"
i don't know how they do stuff in Canada, but in the USA if a woman walks into the ER to get med treatment for an injury and if she tells the ER staff that the injury was an assault, and if she tells the ER staff who assaulted her and where to find this person, then the hospital will hold you "for observation" untill after the cops arrest the person who beat you, then an Adult Protective Services person will interview you (still in the hospital) and try to get you to agree to a "restraining order" so that the person that beat you won't be able to do it again, if the woman in the ER has kid(s) the restraining order would prevent the person who beat her from interacting with the kid(s), regardless of whether or not he was the father of the kid(s) and/or husband of the woman he beat up

yeah, we of course all know about the hospital stop ... but that's if she is ready to make that stop and report.
from what I understand most of the women in this type of situation go through quite a bit of hell until they actually report it.
