When I was travelling this summer my family got so pissed off that I wasn't writing them email every day to let them know that I'm okay since they're paranoid crazy small town people like that.

If this were even 15 years ago they'd be lucky to get an effing postcard before I got back.

I remember before the days of internet and cell phones, to make a phone call to/from Europe to the US was something to look forward to and save money for.
and even then it really sounded like the person was reaaaaaly far away as the connection was so bad. I miss that kind of shit somehow.

but then again, this new technology is fantastic as it made the world so small and accessible.
