The (Un)official write anything you want page

I remember before the days of internet and cell phones, to make a phone call to/from Europe to the US was something to look forward to and save money for.
and even then it really sounded like the person was reaaaaaly far away as the connection was so bad. I miss that kind of shit somehow.

Hell, it was like that as I was a kid calling accross Canada. Calling my grandfather in Montreal was a "once a year" ordeal. calling relatives in scotland... HAH!

I've been so fucking tired when geting up for the past 2-3weeks... What should I do, increase my sleeping time? :erk:

Well, at least in my case, more sleep doesn't fit. Unless you're as idle as I am, (if yes, get some excercise), then you're fucked. Welcome to the modern world. Enjoy your ulcer.

I literally gained about 60 lbs when I started working in IT. never lost them shitz. Quitting smoking at the same time didn't help.

I feel you on the lack-of-sleep thing, it sucks a whole lot. I try to catch cat naps whenever I can to maximize rest, but usually the weekend is just all that much more wonderful do to sleep-time.

2 days simply aren't enough to make up for 5 days of shit sleep. You feel great monday and by tuesday you're back down low again. The only help is to burn the stress off with excercise to maximize the benefit of said sleep. We're not designed to be sedentary animals.

We evolved and weren't designed.

I think being tired is part of the definition of being a human.

Being tired is part of the definition of being a human in western society the way we've shaped it, yes. But as a whole, I'd disagree.

Edit: Upon further thought, I guess it depends on many factors and context when viewing humanities history as a whole.

gonna bang my brains out on some Nocturnal Graves before going to bed then. Should work.

:kickass:

I was joking in the second comment to show that comments about it's western society that makes us tired is absurd. How would you know that our cousins in the trees/savanna weren't tired all the time either? It's just a baseless assertion.

yeah, I am sure hunting and gathering all day was a very relaxing activity ...
if anything I think we are bigger pussies than any previous generation :loco:

Yeah, I already changed my post upon further thought.

Maybe there has just been a shift from a primarily "physical exhaustion" based society to "mental exhaustion" based society. (Hunting/Gathering/etc, to Office/Desk/etc work largely).Anyways, shrug. I'm not putting any real thought into this. I've slept less than 4 hours the past few days, whatever. Work takes too many hours away from the day, I refuse to sleep early.

The thing about physical exhaustion: rest alone can make it go away. I've had plenty of it and never bitched. I'm worked till I was bleeding and felt like ass for 2 days, but after that I was just grand.

Mental exhaustion is much more difficult to remove, especially with the invention of smart-phones and the 24/7/365 always-on office lifestyle thats so prevalent and so difficult to get away from. Its also more malignant, it can't always be quantified on workload alone, it can come from all sorts of sources.

Your average hunter gatherer got his food and called it a day. After his hunting and gathering he shagged his wife, beat his children and went to bed.
