The (Un)official write anything you want page

yeah, ... the economy is not helping matters much either. worst freaking summer work wise ever.
people want shit done but want it for a fraction of the cost and expect twice as much.

it's really seems to be all pointing to deflation.

it's not the economy as such it's the whole frickin system man

western society today just ain't sustainable for the human psyche

"The common suffering is the alienation from oneself, from one's fellow man, and from nature; the awareness that life runs out of one's hand like sand, and that one will die without having lived; that one lives in the midst of plenty and yet is joyless" - Fromm

The more I pay attention, the more I notice how many people are strung so tight they're about to snap

Yep x1billion.

People really do need to remember (or learn sometimes) to simply relax, and that most things frankly do not matter.

Can anyone guess what time the majority of heart attacks in America occur? Monday morning.

yeah, i learned a few times in life that stressful situations sometimes do not mean diddly squat down the line in life or even 2 weeks after they happen.
so a lot of times its just better to say Fuck it than stress over something.

when are we going camping Doom? have to pay you your pimp fee and reconnect with "nature".

The pressure to always be perfect, around the clock, to hardly sleep in order to meet deadlines or be the perfect provider for a customer or whatever. No wonder people get burnout or snap or murder people.

I just got back form 2 weeks of camping, drinking and making firewood. No work. No clocks. Woke up with the sun (or the sound of the tarp over my tent snapping in the high winds).
A bit of manual labour, hours of lazing around a fire and good food. Drinking: constant, but relaxed. It was a great holiday and relatively cheap.

this is pretty much also the point of two of my favourite books on the subject, "the conquest of happiness" by bertrand russell and "walden" by thoreau

i'll have to read this fromm guy, never heard of him before :yell:

Ohh man I could totally go off on a twelve thousand page rant about how fucked up and backwards society in our modern world is, but you know. Suffice to say I spent a good deal of last year living, for the most part, off the grid, and it ruled beyond belief. I've been back east visiting for a month and I do not miss a thing here, aside from old friends. In the last 12 months I've spent less than $5000 on total life expenses, and I can probably cut that number in half this year if things work out great.

this is what sucks most about IT in general.
clients are super demanding nowadays, I think mostly because their own businesses might not be running the best they can so they are on the edge as well.
