the "what are you currently listening to" thread

Wolves At The Gate is actually post-hardcore, not metalcore. Okay, back in my hole I go.

Jamiroquai is funk and always acceptable.

I know it was rude, that was the point. As I said, I "try" not to judge but it totally does happen. I'm not happy with being a dick but sometimes it comes out. OKAY I'M SORRY JACOB777, I LOVE YOU BRO. WE COOL?

Wolves At The Gate sounds just like every other metalcore band out there that doesn't stand out in any way. Using the term "post-hardcore" in any way at all is ridiculous because hardcore refers to punk which sounds nothing like modern day metalcore. #genreelitest #dontyoujudgeme #sleepinggiant #genericmetalcore

If you can't tell by now,
most of this conversation has been a joke.

It's hard to recommend a couple Oh, Sleeper songs because all of their albums are concept albums and thus only reach their potential as a whole. Trying to use some diversity from their material, here's the notable mentions:
1. World Without A Sun
2. Chewing The Stitch
3. Reveries Of Flight (It's pretty much a ballad)
4. Vices Like Vipers

Wow, lol. So because I'm wearing a fitted hat (I don't wear snapbacks), I have piercings, I like to listen to music on the sound system my Xbox is hooked up to cause it's loud, have music on my phone if I want to hear something while out, and because YOU think x band is generic and don't like their sound since you only listen to bands that are cool/good (because you said so), probably even before they were cool, is your reason for making that half ass remark?? LOL!!

Ayo, thanks for at least posting your reasons though since I asked. You helped my day start off with a good laugh after reading that.

And I like Oh Sleeper too! I even been to one of their concerts! Being honest there. Also, My Children My Bride too! They were one of the best performances I've seen. I like Impending Doom as well! And I'm going to see August Burns Red in a few weeks on my Birthday!! Can I be in teh kewl metal club nao? Or do I have to buy teh awesome metal clothes, lose the fitted hat and take out the piercings first? And when and where do teh kewl metul people listen to music since headphones and home sound systems are where teh jock metul heads listen to music?? lol. (That last part after ABR was a joke, just in case). And yes, we're cool Rawshik!! No worries!

I hope they play this song there. Sorry if it's not awesome enough for you there Rawshik! :)

I gotta say Oh, Sleeper is pretty rad, but the one thing that puts me off are the vocals. It's just not to my liking, they seem overly forced and maybe even juvenile (does that make sense?). I like the effort they put into their instrumentals, since a big reason I tend to reject metalcore are the simplified riffs and clumsy breakdowns. Oh, Sleeper definitely doesn't falter in that area.
After listening to your 4 songs I can honestly say the band has a certain quality to it, and the lyrics aren't cheesy either, which is a big plus.

The closest I've ever gotten to loving metalcore was Still Remains, Of Love and Lunacy blew me away in every aspect.

I...uhhh....wait, you're serious? 3edgy5me

Yeah, I've always said that Oh, Sleeper pretty much would be generic metalcore if it weren't for A) The lead guitarist actually being good at guitar and B) The lyrics.

I've never actually listened to Still Remains before this. That song sounds a lot like old Haste The Day, I like it.

Oh man! Rawshik, I forgot the best part! I'll leave you alone after this. I also write songs/lyrics too. But here's the plot twist. I make rap music! Dun dun dunnn.. So have fun with that one too.

And yes, I was serious. It sounds pretty stupid, right?..

See ya around man. No hard feelings ay.

Haste the Day? I'd say you're on your own there. The two bands are in no way similar for me, nor have I ever seen anyone mention them in the same context. But if that means you like it, I'm glad. The reason I love them is definitely the melodic death in their approach.

The harsh vocals sound nothing like them but the guitar-work and the cleans immediately reminded me of HtD's first two albums. After a second a second listen though, it really sounds like all of their albums (excluding AotWK which is a terrible album that nobody should listen to ever).

So amped for the re-release!

I've been listening to a lot of Killswitch Engage. I was just sitting around wanting there to be another Times Of Grace album. The new album is relatively great. There are a good amount of Christian themes and even verses/phrases from the Bible in the lyrics. So it's pretty much the next best thing.
I plan to put the music onto Google play, then listen to it at work. Is that worth your judgement Rawshik?

I remember wishing KSE was Christian when I was 13 so that I could listen to them. That should tell you how I feel about them now.

I've had an advance of the new Stryper on in the car for the past week. IMO, their best album since To Hell With the Devil. A real rocker.

Looking forward to getting my copy Tuesday!

NP: Vanishing Point - Hollow (an underrated band, IMO)

The re-release! :D Sounds really good!

This lucky idiot attended the show last night and bought the disc. Great show and also got to see Slechtvalk. Awesome night. :)
