the "what are you currently listening to" thread

Yeah, judging by the samples it's looking to be pretty excellent. Especially that one Matt identified as "Light of the World".

I tried very hard to like Decyfer Down...at least their latest project....I tried really hard, but could not.

When you're fading away in the chorus of one song, and then you're wasting away in the chorus two songs later, you have to wonder if they just ran out of stuff to write?

Plus, they seem to be suffering from the 'You syndrome' that a lot of Christian bands are suffering from lately...God and/or Jesus is reduced to a rather anonymous 'You' to whom they sing...sure, those on the 'inside track' get it and realize that they are addressing Deity, but why hide what you're saying? This is one of the things I've appreciated about Matt's lyrics...you have no question where he's coming from.

Just my stinkin' opinion...

* Brainstorm - Downburst
* Def Leppard - Songs From The Sparkle Lounge
* Pain Of Salvation - Road Salt One
* Avantasia - The Scarecrow

My opinion on Decyfer Down:

I like some of their stuff but they did run out of ideas it seems. Also, they do suffer of the "You" syndrome. I do listen to them every now and then though. I like their songs, "Desperate", "Over My Head" "Fading", and "Wasting Away" (I only have the "Crash" album).

Also... these guys know how to perform live!!!!!

I saw Decyfer Down live a few weeks before Crash came out and they aren't the best in concert.I've never listened to Crash but I did however get a signed cd of End of Gray that I listened the heck out of and now I haven't touched it in about 6 or 7 months.

If you're into metalcore I would highly recommend this band.They are fairly new and only have 4 songs,but so far so good.
