the "what are you currently listening to" thread

I saw the salamimors thread, but I don't remember no kickstarter, homie
Let me cheeeeck...

edit: I actually had to resort to googling, you're such a weenie

I ordered that from the kickstarter and have yet to get my package and refuse to listen to it until I have it... so this saddens me.

I have to relisten to it again. The first half to me sounded like what the last BTA album should have sounded like. The second half slowed down a little for me. I still have not received anything from them.

Got in the mail today. Listening to it now.

Edit: Just finished my first listen through. The vocals are definitely gonna be an acquired taste; they seem pretty experimental. Other than that, it's dang good.

Edit: Nope, just tried it both ways. I have no idea how it works.

What happen to just posting the link and having the video pop up?

You have to post it in the right format.

There's two reasons I see urls consistently not appear inline here:
1. using https rather than http
2. using youtu.be urls rather than youtube.com urls

I fix both when I come across them. In your case, all I had to do was remove the 's' from your url (https means it's a secure/encrypted url).

Quite possibly the best power metal band.

As a SA fan (and as someone whose first metal love was Sonata Arctica) I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement.

That being said, older Sonata Arctica stuff (before Unia) should not be an acquired taste, since it's generic power metal done right and if you like power metal in general you should feel at home with it. But their newer stuff is most definitively an acquired taste in my book, Toni Kakko started making the music he truly wanted and abandoned the original generic power metal approach which the world grew to love.

I'm listening to "The Days Of Greys" and at first I didn't even listen to it the whole way. Something about the vocalist. But as I have forced myself to sit through it I am starting to warm to it. Still nowhere near a favorite but its okay. Also having the same issues with Stratovarius and Kamelot. Maybe I just have issues with European vocals :/

NEW VAN CANTO!

(contains a couple f-words, for comedy purposes)

EDIT:

This video is another one of those cheap-budget amateur-looking fantasy music videos, but the cover itself is simply awesome. I'm actually considering buying it, and I never buy single songs. The original version is from the credits of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
