The what's going on in Thrash thread

A few years back I saw a one off show featuring Exodus opening for Killswitch Engage. Went with a buddy who was a metro police officer whose metal knowledge didn't go past Metallica. He was impressed with Exodus and said to me after the show, "Exodus should be playing in my squad car when I have to respond to a call!"

Seeing the size of the crowd surge for Killswitch Engage made me feel out of touch with the metal scene. I am still disgusted that Killswitch is more popular in Vegas than Exodus. How did that happen?

Pretty funny. They should have Exodus as battle music blaring from the cop cars :).

Nah. It's the scene that's out of touch. Really the simple fact is that Killswitch is a radio band and Exodus isn't. All Killswitch songs follow the same blueprint of scream then get singy or start singy and then scream with an almost constant chorus.
Even their singer has started to complain about it lol.

Well honestly, in a beanie like that I'm not surprised you didn't play well :p

Awe sorry, that's a bit harsh, good on the guy for admitting it, there is obviously a lot of water under his bridge but he still got up there and gave the fans a show.
I didn't notice. But I also haven't seen all the footage. I can't believe he hasn't played on stage since 05! What the hell. That is a real shame!
Now I have to find that Roadrunner show!

That is a pretty bad beanie :p

Comments in the comment section about him looking like a Granny :) I don't entirely disagree but I wouldn't say it!!

In today's world the internet is there to tell musos that they had a bad show, even if they didn't, but it's not usual for a muso to admit it themselves.

Speaking of old becoming new, Exhorder is getting a double re-release of their first two albums. It's only a UK pre-release at the moment but for anyone who doesn't have the first two albums it might be worth getting them both for the price of one, they are both classics.

Vio-lence vocals have always been harder to get used to than their music, there is no change there. If you can get used to the vocal delivery, which can be kind of Slayer like at times it does make the music more enjoyable. I think it takes a few listens to get into the whole song and many people wont bother doing that which is a pity.

It's been 30 years since Vio-lence wrote their best material, that kind of break rarely means an artist can immediately waltz back into what they had before. I think the real bummer here is that all we are getting is a 5 track EP and at least one of those songs is a cover so we wont really get to feel how close Vio-lence is too their roots. But at the same time no one wants them to be a carbon copy of themselves. It's going to be tough no matter what happens, we've seen plenty of bands come back and not be as good, just the hype around this EP has given people something to look forward to, but the problem is if you give people too much, they are often let down easier.

In some ways I think Phil and Sean are their own worst enemies here, they have been talking this up for so long, we've had several songs and they still say they haven't had the time to make a full album. Shit guys it's been well over 12 months this should be the best album ever but it's only 4 new songs.
