The what's going on in Thrash thread

At least Dave's album is produced and has a title :)
But I can't see Dave lasting 10 years let alone a relationship between him and another musician :)

Yeah I have thought the same thing.
Not sure what sort of contract he's got with his label and whether they are expecting more. I actually think that if this new album tanks it will be the last, he wont bother coming back but wont really retire. If the album sells well I'm sure we'll see at least one more and maybe a tour, but possibly scaled back.

How many Megadeth fans really want to hear the new songs? I am not a hardcore Megadeth follower and have seen them 3-5 times over the years. I'd be pleased with a live show that featured some deep cuts from the 90s and 00s albums plus the hits.

I want to hear some new songs just to see if Dave's still got it in him to write good songs. But hearing some deep cuts and less played stuff would always be welcome....for just about every band.

I agree. With reports of declining record sales I wonder what the financial gains are from releasing a new album for long term bands like Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament or even a band like Destruction. I get wanting to have a product to push, but bands that have deep discographies to pull from don't need to push new inferior songs on us, especially in live settings with a limited play time.

Since I’ve listened to these songs on a fairly regular basis for years I’m always wanting bands to do more new songs live than they usually do. But I also love deep cuts. That’s pretty much across the board, not just
Megadeth.

I suppose one thing that needs to be taken into account is that not many bands think they are pushing inferior songs on their fans. They might know, even admit, they've changed, but I'm sure they all go in and write what is the best they can do at the time. Sometimes it works and fans love it, sometimes it doesn't.

I do think there is an incentive to keep producing something new whether it becomes their main source of income or not. Labels needs albums to push bands and band merchandise, but most of all because they make a lot of money from music sales. Bands need new songs to stop them from becoming a nostalgia act and fans still want something new. Iron Maiden are one of the few bands who regularly get away a best of tour and I think they get away with it because they mix up the tours, maybe more bands with extensive catalogues should try it, maybe it wouldn't work for all.

But I still think there is room for new music from older band who are capable of putting stuff out. Not every album will be a hit and not every album will have the feel of their greatest albums, but while physical sales are down streaming and electronic purchases are still kicking a long nicely for bands.

I hate nostalgia acts! Make music! :kickass:

Testament has a new longsleeve. It's pretty badass.

Iron Maiden haven't done a bad job of the greatest hits packages. They seem to do a tour for an album, then do a tour for classic songs and old songs, then do another album. When you've got that many songs that kind of set up works quite well. But if a band just plays their same on hits all the time they may as well take up a Vegas residency.

I have thought about that top. I've just had a parcel from the US arrive in 3 weeks so postage does seem to be on the improve if it's not expensive.

Yeah Iron Maiden does do a pretty job of it. Better than most.

I haven't checked what shipping would be. I think for just the shirt it would be like an extra $10. Man you guys get screwed!
I think I have to order it. The problem is I don't know what size. I have a long sleeve shirt for The Gathering ( I wish they'd make it again)
It's an XL and fits pretty good. But that Megadeth shirt I got last year seems really too big and it's also an XL.

I suppose it helps with Maiden that every tour they do is a sell out and they can do two major tours between albums.

Yeah list time I looked I think shipping was $19, it was shipping times that really sucked. But now with passenger flights becoming a bit more frequent air freight is getting better. The problem only comes when paying for a premium service, shit like "express" or "fast" or "priority" etc where you pay a higher price, they all seem to be slower than standard post for some reason.

You should try picking sizes from here. US XXL is different to AU XXL but not by the same margin that US XL is different to AU XL. It's a fucking nightmare.

Our clothes have gone the other way, we have to buy a size up to have a good fit.
I believe it goes the opposite way in female clothes so they don't get upset though.
I was in a shop before Chrissie, (subsidiary of Woolworths) and I was looking for a button up shirt for Chrissie day. I was wearing a t-shirt when I tried it on because I was lazy and didn't go to a change room. But I thought I'd be generous and try on a 3XL, a loose fitting shirt on a hot Chrissie day is best, but the 3XL didn't fit. I got to 7XL before I found one that fitted and even then it wasn't the best fit. Sizes are fucking ridiculous these days!!

Hahaha :p

I had the tape, but not even the real one. I'm so behind. I'm almost lost. Figure I should start with things that haven't been re released and Imports.
