The what's going on in Thrash thread

You know, I know they can. but it's seems like if you have a disclaimer you're good. Idk, There's a lot of people that put music on there.

It's bloody weird what gets taken off and what doesn't. There is a list a mile long of musos who have had stuff removed because it was stuff they'd played in another band, or stuff they'd written for someone else. It seems that all people have to do is complain and the complaint is actioned not looked at for validity and then actioned.

I thought it was him, there wasn't many just snippets of things, although maybe they were photos.

I don't really know. I know some bands do, but I also know some bands who've only done it because fans have found shit. Gary says he's got an iron trap memory and he mentioned having photos of things from the past but as to how much of a collection that is I don't really know.
I hope he's been archiving shows!
You know when I was a kid I would have thought that this would be the time for all these thrash bands to be putting out collections and box sets that don't actually suck. I wonder why labels like NB aren't really doing it. I know there could be various reasons from licensing to...well whatever. But 35-40 years of being around seems like the time. There seems to be a lot more compilation docs coming out though. But I want dedicated stuff with all the bells and whistles. Testament I know is hiding full professionally filmed shows from the past. I just don't know why.

Maybe that's where the average Joe has the advantage? No one bothers to complain?

Considering the number of videos popping up from the 80's lately it shows there was plenty of camera's around so it's kind of surprising that there isn't more 'official' recordings popping to help record companies make money during a slow time.

Seems that Festivals (especially in Europe) have the right idea. No idea what the deals are but festivals like Bloodstock have 10 years worth of archival footage on YT. More recent years are better shot videos but they are all pro done and look bloody good. Surely bands, or labels wanting to make money, have seen the same light and been recording at least some of the shows. But we see bugger all being released.

I think Justice is actually in charge of a lot of the business with Megadeth. Elektra is the window dressing! :heh: Dave's a sly one!

Oh I didn't realise that, I thought Justice was younger, like about 16 or something.
Elektra doesn't look too bad as window dressing, but if she ages like her dad then she better have a friendly botox doctor :)

Yeah! and some of those old shows sound and look really good!

Bugger all indeed!!

We tried to get local bands here involved in live show recordings back in the late 80's and early 90's when my dad was making training videos for the power corporation here. But most bands just didn't see the value in it because producing professional videos and the gear to do such was not cheap. Even with Dad able to use the gear from work the production costs meant most bands still had to sell their video tape for a similar price to retail stores charged and it just wasn't profitable enough.

Oops it's actually "Justis" my bad. I think he's close to 30 by now. But yeah he's been involved with the business for a long time in some form. He was involved with the Pledge campaign for the last album and I'm pretty sure he was doing stuff before that.

That's why I was joking but not joking about Justis watching all the forums and Blabbers for daddy to tell him how bad they were being made fun of.

Hehe, you're right, that is how he spells it. Poor kid!! :)

According to Discogs he's 29 and he also sung The System Has Failed, played instruments on Something That I'm Not and spoke on Ashes In Your Mouth.

According to Facebook he works at CTK management and looks like he's some sort of manager but not a partner. They manage such people as Dolly Parton, Geri from Spice Girls and Kenny G. No mention of Megadeth, but he does list one of his websites as MustaineWines.

No mention of Megadeth? Weird. If I could find those Pledge vids I could prove it! He would have been what? 12 on TSHF? What could he have sung?

A few years back around the time Dystopia came out, Justis was managing Havok. I think that is how they got an opening 20 minute slot on one of the Megadeth tours. I don't know all the details but remember it eventually went south between Management and the band, something about the cut from merchandise sales maybe?

I'm not privy to the details, I think that was when Havok had released and was promoting that turd of an album, Conformicide. I love to jump on the bash the Mustaine train as much as anyone, but I also question if Havok agreed to a bum deal because they thought opening for Megadeth would help their career.
