The what's going on in Thrash thread

Interesting to see two different takes on the same article
http://www.metalinjection.net/musta...staine-reacts-to-people-saying-hes-an-asshole
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/megadeths-dave-mustaine-if-i-dont-like-you-youre-going-to-know-it/

The biggest difference is the site that calls people a dick for using ad blockers is the site that has to use the heading with the word asshole in it to attract viewers and commentors. Blabber do cite a little more of the original article and both are far from professional but one is definitely more clickbait than they other yet they both say essentially the same thing.

For what it's worth!

I saw this pop up on the feeds the other day and couldn't bring myself to watch it. I'm waiting for the Janitor's account of things before I get excited :)

In this country we can't afford to go back in time and buy vinyl. One of our local music chain stores now has a vinyl section so I thought I'd see what they had. AC/DC live from Fucksville(?) was $35.95 and that was the cheapest LP in the rack. They have classics from the 60's and 70's for $60 a piece and they have new release stuff which averages $45.00 per disc. They'll be making wild claims like "vinyl doesn't sell in Australia" soon, there will be no addendum to the claim that if they priced it at a reasonable price they would sell it.

Yep it's Jnr's turn to be a media hound this month.

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/david-ellefson-current-megadeth-lineup-feels-like-a-new-band/

Of course it feels like a new band, two out of four players are new!

Although I did like this bit, not sure if it's bad writing or bad talking.

Asked if MEGADETH's current lineup feels like a new band, Ellefson said: "For me, it feels like a new band. Yet there's still a benchmark everyone has to rise to — me and Dave [Mustaine] included. And I feel like we have exceeded that. Which is cooler, because we don't just get to be the MEGADETH of the past but of the future."

If there is "still" a benchmark everyone has to rise too, can you "exceed" that benchmark?

When I did go to school I was teached to talk betta than that there sentence!!:saint:

15 years ago before Amazon started to ship here CD's used to cost us $30, even for local releases, and the record shops claimed it was justified because the labels were changing them too much. Then a discount mob that bulk bought stuff managed to drop the price to $25 and the record shops claimed the discount mob would be out of business, it didn't happen and the normal price became $25. Then Amazon started to ship here and we could get CD's for $15 which with multiple CD's made postage viable and CD's general price here dropped to $20. The record stores and labels have been able to screw this market for way too long, that's part of the reason digital music is so big and why Amazon are starting a local store here.

I wonder if Kiko and Dirk think it feels like a new band.

It is true that many of these records stores went down because they were just plain charging too much, I'm sure the record companies had something to do with it. Cds were basically $20 when I was a teenager. Then they came down to $15 with as you said the record companies crying the whole time. Now if I go to Best Buy a new cd is $9.99 and maybe the deluxe if there is one is a tiny bit more. Especially if you go the first week of release . Of course the selection is hit or miss but they actually have more metal than I thought they would. (Maybe it was all my years of pissed off emails) lol And when they don't have something Amazon is great.

Are Dirk and Kiko allowed to think?

We still have a couple of "specialist" metal stores here but their prices are higher, every other store is hit and miss. There is no doubt ordering from the likes of Amazon is easier but I miss the record shop, I also miss the record shop where you could go in and talk to other metal heads and even the shop owners about anything and nothing.

Or course Dirk and Kiko are allowed to think, they can think whatever Dave and Dave tell them too. :)
