The what's going on in Thrash thread

There was an article (in Metal Hammer I think), last week and all Scott wanted to talk about was how everyone in the scene, back in the day, knew Metallica was going to be huge, how he was nearly arrested with Cliff Burton and how great the Big 4 gig in Sofia 2011 was. While Scott continues to live in the past and talk of his 'glory days' he's never going to be able to make an new album.

I didn't think they were that bad, but then I've been a fan of Entombed AD for quite a while. David's grumpy face and attitude is kind of funny, and a bit new, but I'm actually looking forward to seeing what the come up with.

Looking a lot less forward to Pantera with Zakk and Benate if it actually happens. Rex Brown is full of shit, Phil's a spineless, racist cocksucker and together they think they can play stadiums if they reunite and get Zakk and Benate along for the ride.

This new Ellefson band will go as far as the previous ones did.

Now that Benante is in "Pantera" I predict a lot of fill-in drummers in Anthrax's future and an even more delayed new album since Benante is their main songwriter.

Yeah unfortunately the only band making any real movements is that crappy Lucid band. They have worked hard promo-ing that shit and probably deserve the credit they are getting but it's not metal. Good luck to him if that's what he wants but I've always got the feeling that Lucid was just a side project for a mate which became more because he was sacked. Dieth does have more of a Temple of Brutality sound about it but as they only ever released one album it doesn't look good for this band. The only thing in Dieth's favour is that Jnr needs a job, but I'm not sure the other two are in the same position.

Actually Jnr should get Temple back together, Stet must be at a loose end now with Metal Church and the other two guys haven't done anything much since Lethal Agenda was released.

How long can a Pantera tour last though? I know there are fans of the band but they were never a big stadium filler were they? Even so Phil and Rex have been playing selected songs of theirs for years now, add a few more noted players and this is really no different. If it's just a nostalgia trip maybe they will get a few Euro festivals, although I'm sure they'll only be mid-tier 3pm bands, they wont headline. Even if they do make this tour last for 6 months I wonder if Anthrax will even bother will fill in drummers or just go back to sleep. They wont release another album without Charlie, but Scott doesn't give a shit, he's playing pop music again, so will Anthrax even get out and play?

Fuck Pantera and Anselmo. He is an ignorant white power supporting, racist piece of shit. Fuck everyone who joins the Pantera reunion and everyone who supports them.

I'm not a fan and don't really give a shit what they do but that's pretty extreme.

Meeting extremes with alternate extremes? Doesn't seem logical. However I really doubt that anything Fuckwit Phil says, or the three other guys who will barely get to speak, is going to incite any kind of major trouble. From what I've been told Phil's toned his verbal diarrhoea down quite a lot over the last decade. Besides Pantera weren't that big when the brothers were in the band, they certainly aren't going to be huge just because of Chuckles and Zakk joining the other two on stage.

Not really feeling the new Hatriot album. It's got some good riffing on it and the songs aren't terrible but there doesn't seem to be anything overly great hooking me in. Perhaps if I hadn't offended everyone they would help me find that hook :p

From what I heard I think I prefer the previous Hatriot album. Either way, I'm glad they continued on after Dad left.

I listened to it yesterday and really couldn't get into it. The guitar work and the speed might well be brilliant, I know it's fast and sounds pretty good, but something about the singer doesn't sit well with me.

I gave Amon Amarth the same first off listen and didn't hear anything remarkable but will probably go back and give it another go.

Agree with you on the Toxik album. Not a fan of those vocals.

Yeah, it's a weird voice and maybe I'm judging it unfairly by saying it's not a good album, but those vocals are hard to like and make the album hard to listen too.

I've only listened to the new Hatriot twice and that's because there is something missing from their older style. I don't know if they are trying for more of a metalcore sound or if they are just evolving into something else but it's a stretch from their earlier stuff to this latest album.

Been a very slow time on the new release lists too, I haven't seen anything jumping out for my attention since about the time Hatriot was released.
