I've never been a huge fan of Di'anno or his mouth. He does seem to have mellowed a bit in the last few years but for me he's always been an arrogant prick. I've got his bio here and he pretty much blames Maiden for everything that went down. His drug and alcohol use, his abuse, his lack of effort all had nothing to do with him being sacked from the band. I prefer his solo stuff to his time with Maiden, but I'm still not a huge fan of that.
I suppose it's a good thing that Maiden are helping him out, as they have helped out other ex members, but I do wonder where his money has gone given that he might not ever have been a millionaire but he must still be getting royalties. One thing I did read a few years ago, when he was trying to get a gofundme happening, was that he chose not to use the relatively free UK medical system in favour of private hospitals but he couldn't afford it himself. At that time he was all mouthy about who should help and who should pay for things because he was Paul and he deserved better treatment than the public health system. I think it's a good thing Paul and Steve seem to have buried the hatchet after all these years but I do wonder how long it will be before Paul's mouth opens again.
