The what's going on in Thrash thread

It's only the "bonus" tracks as far as I can tell it's not the remastered part of the album. But those tracks are not something I could listen to more than once. I'm the man is shit as usual and there is a few lyric changes as you would expect on early demos/pre-production etc. But Scott's singing is fucking terrible. There is a few good moments on it listening to the riffs and stuff of POT songs but I really can't stomach Scott on vocals, he's got no tone, no real flow and his voice all most sounds like it's trying to break pubity at time.

Like I say it's only the bonus tracks but the remastered tracks would want to be excellent for me to buy this album and replace my vinyl.
Hahaha! Some bonus! Maybe Charlie is mad at Scott lol.

I was thinking about it before and I wonder if Scott is holding the rest of the band to ransom now. Maybe he thinks because of the shit he does with wifey and Poshen etc he's some sort of brilliant maestro and he's throwing his weight around. Otherwise I can't honestly think why the hell they released so many songs with his vocals, it's not like the band didn't have a vocalist. If I understand correctly the "charlie riff tape" recordings are pre-studio and therefore Joey might not have been in the first few meetings, but to me these songs are like asking Ripper to sing Painkiller, it just doesn't work. I admit I'm not big on studio outakes from any band bit these don't even appear as outakes they appear like the band recorded them and Scott was the only one with a microphone. To me he ruins what are great songs, however I'm probably in a minority many love Scott and everything he does.

Yeah that would have been a no for me as well.

I don't understand what the attraction would be. John was a step away from the 'norm' for thrash. (Although Scott does mention on one of the new tracks that while POT was a follow on from SOE it was also a lead in to SOWN and if one follows the music they'll see the connection to the later more than the prior (or words to that effect) ). But for the band John was a very controversial choice amongst fans, and many saw John's era as too much removed from what Anhtrax was to keep listening. How the hell would choosing Corey not be a worse decision? Surely after 15 years (or whatever it was) of John selecting someone like Corey would almost be like giving up and making Anthrax a top 40 band.

Hmm never got any sort of connection in the music. John had a rough position. It really came out of nowhere. It's not like Joey was fighting with the other guys. I think John wouldn't have gotten so much shit had Anthrax not gone much more commercial. That being said. I think that first album with him sold pretty well.
Have to agree completely. If John wasn't a good fit to some Corey wouldn't have been a good fit to anyone! That is straight up top 40!

I certainly didn't feel the connection Scott mentioned either.
A quick look at chart numbers and it appears SOWN charted better than all other albums in most places. I couldn't confirm actual sales in a quick look but one site which I couldn't confirm as fact claimed SOWN sold nearly double POT, 3 times ATL and nearly 4 times SOE. But what surprised me was Killber B's is there biggest seller. At best the data is old but I don't know how accurate.

Someone's in for a good holiday at home!
Very little talk about the new album.

I was reading last night on wiki that Charlie first mentioned them preparing for the new album in March 2017, he claimed they would start it in the summer of 2017, 12 months after Kings. At the same time he also suggested there was two of three songs left over from Kings that could be used for the new album. In May 2018 that changed to Scott saying they'd not started and only had riffs. They then took on the Slayer tour and put the album off to 2019. Now here we are in 2020 and they still only have a few songs written and Scott's still not confirming an album before he comes back from holiday.

I think one thing this pandemic has confirmed for a lot of people is how fucked their internet connections are when everyone is working from home :)

The biggest problem with computer and internet problems are they are often intermittent. My internet connection is good one day and bad the next, but I've lost count of the times I've got calls to fix problems with peoples computers and by the time I get there I can't find anything wrong. Bad connections happen, slow connections happen and computers do fail but the number of 'gremlins' that only seem to effect computers when a tech isn't present is ridiculous.

I sense a lot of pissed off music will be written in the near future :)
I was reading something yesterday about thrash bands using the pandemic to theme songs and someone claimed Mustaine will use this opportunity to follow up Dystopia with a full pandemic themed album. I'm not sure that will be the case given how long the songs have been in the writing process for but it's still funny.
