I don't know that Jason's drumming is better than Charlie's but in Reverend he holds his own.

I didn't watch that video because I figured it was just going to be Dave being Dave.
What I got from the article though is that Dave and Nick were too much alike at the wrong time of life. When sober they both praised each other, spoke about each other in a glowing light and genuinely seemed to like each other. But when they were both as high as kites they were dicks to each other. I think Dave's hindsight is always a little jaded and he thinks he was more hard done by others than others were hard done by him. It's a little sad but that's Dave.
The whole argument about money and payments etc Nick does explain in his book and his retelling in quite similar to Dave's. I think it's a bit petty of Dave to bring it all back up again. He wrote about it in his last book, the press had a field day with it. Nick wrote about it, the press tried to make more out of it but failed. Now Dave is having another go. I understand this book is about the album and the time Marty and Nick were in the band but there was no need for Dave to rehash the mud for a third time, especially not when there was so much else to talk about with such a classic album.

Yeah that's what bugs me. Nick is gone. Can't defend himself. Just let it go. He doesn't have to talk about it. Abd I am completely calling bullshit on him saying Jr made the call that Nick couldn't do it (and we've all seen the vids now of Nick doing the songs right after they said he couldn't)
It probably went like. Jr agreed with Dave and Dave remembers it as it was Jr's call/fault. Passing the buck again.
I've seen Jr talk about this before and he's always vague and kind of runs around the question. Just saying it didn't work like Dave was saying.

Despite Nick's book not kicking the shit out of Dave I'm not that surprised Dave thought it was worth having his final say.
When Nick was first sacked he admits he couldn't have played drums for Megadeth, his recovery was going to take time but there was no reason why he wouldn't be back to 100% eventually. He was pissed off and thought it was bad to sack him while he was in hospital, especially after Dave pushed him to get the surgery he didn't want. But furthermore Nick also suggests in hindsight that because of how fucked up he was on drugs whether he could still play or not he was way better for his own sanity and health not being able too. He'd of course loved to keep it up but a sober and sensible Nick realised he didn't need Megadeth or the problems that went with it, including the ones he created himself.
As far as Jnr goes I struggle to know what to believe with him these days.

In some ways I agree with Dave that Marty selling his own merch at a Megadeth show shouldn't be allowed. People are there to see Megadeth not Marty the solo artist. However we also know from other stories that Mustaine owns everything so chances are any share they got from the Megadeth merch would not have been entirely fair.
At the end of the day though the only ones who should know about whether there was pay issues and whether Dave wanted to pay them what they wanted is them, not the media. I get the impression that if it were up to Marty and Nick such news would never have been released. By the time the reunion came about I think both Marty and Nick had had enough of airing dirty laundry in the mags, but Dave needed someone to blame because people knew there was talks happening about a reunion.

Yeah Marty has been really tight lipped over the years and not taking the bait. Who knows the truth. Frankly though any Megadeth fan knows what Marty has been up to. I really don't se the big deal about having some merch. If that part is even true.

I remember the Fight gig I went to back in the 90's was selling Judas Priest shirts at the merch stand, it just didn't feel right. Marty's own shirts at a Megadeth gig is not quite the same but to me it's close.
The best story I remember reading about the reunion, and it may not be entirely true given the way both sides got upset, was from Nick about the dinner they had. Apparently Nick had been 'unofficially' back in the band for several weeks, they'd done some rehearsals, they'd talked and they were talking about taking it on the road. Marty was yet to say yes to anything and it was looking like they'd go ahead without Marty but then out of the blue from Japan Marty says he wants to sit down and thrash things out. They decide to meet for dinner and have a chat but when Marty turned up last with his manager in tow Dave got all shitty. Nick claimed something along the lines of, "Dave was put out by the fact that Marty brought along his manager to a dinner that was just supposed to be the original RIP line up so he stormed out and refused to discuss things further."
