Thermionik Amp Modeler Plugin by Kazrog LLC

I don't give a damn about nirvana or sound garden either, but i havent found a decent amp sim that does the reasonable gain thing well. I have a ton of high gain amp sims, and a ton of clean. I was just hoping for a middle ground amp sims for my arsenal.

LePou's LexTac is pretty good, as is the JCM800 Hot pre.

On-topic, I'm super excited for the Framus and ENGL sims :kickass:

yes,i understand,it's none of my businness, but what's the purpose of having grunge oriented ampsims if you don't care about nirvana?
i still prefer another emulation of traditional high gain monsters rather than other kind of ampsims, but is just my 2 cents...

i guess i used the word "grunge" too loosely, i was simply referring to other types of music as opposed to just metal. Im a metal head, but i'd love to have decent ampsims for pop music etc.

not trying to hurt you but i think most of the people here don't give a damned fuck of nirvana and soundgarden,so well,if there's another emulation of 5150 it's ok...

Actually, I rather like tones on Nevermind, In Utero, and Superunknown. So yeah, I guess I do give a fuck.

That means that the focus of the initial release will be high gain (Peavey 5150 II, ENGL Savage 120, Mesa Dual Rec, Framus Cobra, names will be changed to protect the innocent.) I hope you guys don't mind.

Not a bad starting lineup. The Savage and the Cobra are the only ones I'm interested in, but maybe your Recto is the Recto to end all Rectos.

Excited for this as well. I Also like recabinet quite a bit, this will be a deadly release I bet. I will be picking this one up. Hurry, lol. Cheers.

Will it be standalone as well ?
If yes, would it be possible to implement the possibility to load a plugin from within the app ? This would rock.

A big vote for a pack with crunch/fatter sounds amps as well. We're talking gaining the last 5% of realism in the 5150, but it would be cool if you could model some less remembered amps. Even the PSA-1 preamp would be awesome. Orange, diezel, NOS, rare amps like this would be very interesting for the creative minds !

Yes! Finally someone dares to model my amp (Framus Cobra). Any info on channel(s) modeled? (just ch3 or ch2 or the whole thing?)

One of the project goals is to make sure every channel of every amp is modeled accurately. It's really dumb to assume that people don't use the other channels besides the most br00tal on a high gain amp. For example, I love the clean channel of the Savage 120, and find it to be one of the fullest, purest clean tones in existence. Similarly, the Cobra offers a wide range of tones in a single amp, and it would be a huge missed opportunity to skip any of that stuff.

It will have a standalone version as well as VST, AU, and AAX. The standalone will allow the ability to load VST fx pre or post Recabinet (or in front of the amp if you want also.)

Nothing is off the table as far as future amp models - in fact I'm tracking down some amps at the moment where there are few known working models in existence. Also, solid state amps and even preamps are possible. I'm realistic - there's some great competition out there covering a lot of well worn territory, and I'm perfectly happy to be the first to get to some of the weird stuff. The plugin market of late has turned into the analog modeling accuracy war, which will obviously end when there are 20 redundant, highly accurate models of the same exact hardware available as software at different arbitrary price points. Getting new or at least different sounds out there then becomes very important - this is about art, ultimately.

That is a really smart mindset. Soundtoys seems to have that approach and it seems to be working for them and setting them apart from the crowd.

It would be really cool to have a modular amp / preamp vst. Like where you can pick and choose the gain structures of different amps and recreate them convincingly or mix and match characteristics, choose the original amp controls or to go free form, kind of like dmg equallibrium does with eq curves. Or something like the harmonic saturation thing in Ozone, but being able to choose say the low mid saturation of a recto and the top end cut of a Marshall.

That's why you chose mesa, 5150 and engl?

Plus, other than the Axe-FX, I don't think there actually is a good ENGL sim on the market. The POD HD version is flabby and lifeless, and the LePou version is a preamp only and pretty old IIRC.

I for one am certainly very interested in the Cobra and Dual Rec amp sims. The Mesas are famous for their INSANE ear piercing high end and grindy tone, and if it can emulate that, you have my money and thanks!
