Thermionik Amp Modeler Plugin by Kazrog LLC

Plus, other than the Axe-FX, I don't think there actually is a good ENGL sim on the market. The POD HD version is flabby and lifeless, and the LePou version is a preamp only and pretty old IIRC.

Amplitube's Powerball is pretty good, but then the Powerball is maybe the least interesting Engl there is. The Smolski, Fireball, Savage, and Steve Morse models are all more interesting to me.

OT, but I demo'd the UAD one and thought it was pretty good. It doesn't have the blanket effect, flabby low end, or excessive fizz that so many ampsims have.

I am excited to try this since it has the Savage 120. I LOVE mine. There is a very distinctive midrange voice that ENGL's have.

I can't believe no one's mentioned, but if you're going to have a "basics" starting set, don't you need a hot "modded" Marshall JCM800-type amp along these lines?

I'm trying to line up a good sounding JCM 800 at the moment. I tried out a 900 and it was amazingly horrid sounding...

You could also try renting a Friedman or Splawn, or maybe have someone who has one of those do reamping for you.

so it will be released in Q2.

May or more like June ? :D

Q2 is the target still. I can't get more specific at this time, there are still a lot of details to sort out. I very much appreciate your enthusiasm.

One thing I do plan for this project is a feature limited, time unlimited demo, so that everyone gets a plugin they can use in their productions that they didn't have before, free. I'm excited to get it out there as soon as it's ready.

Nothing is off the table as far as future amp models - in fact I'm tracking down some amps at the moment where there are few known working models in existence. Also, solid state amps and even preamps are possible.
Any chance of a solid-state*Gibson*Lab Series L5?
I'd love to get close to Ty Tabors tone

An news?? Q2's ends in a little over a month, Though I'm fully taken away by X50.2 and completely satisfied, as a religious recabinologist I can't wait for this to come out!

-Also I know "certain" amps have been done to death as mentioned prior, but there's a reason we buy the hardware, they're all pretty lacking -excluding the X50 Imo.
That being said I'd love to see 800 done better than whats currently available. Hybrit and Mecuriall are pretty good and the JCMs' in BX and other commercial sims are good but still come up short in my opinion. Anyways Good Luck! :kickass:

At this point it's unlikely that the Q2 target will be met, but it shouldn't be too much longer. After working on the tech behind this plugin for the past few years, another month or so to make sure the initial release is polished doesn't seem like very much time. Thanks so much for your patience and enthusiasm!

Did I hear mention of a JCM800 sim going in?

Definitely not in the initial release, but in a forthcoming amp pack I would love to add one. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I was underwhelmed with the fizzy, brittle tone of the JCM900, but there seems to be a lot of reverence for the JCM800, so I assume it's a much better sound. I've never used a JCM800 in person, but I know a guy who has one, and I will try it out as soon as time permits.

Back to coding...

Agreed on the 900 but the 800 is a totally different animal - much much better amp.
