Thermionik Amp Modeler Plugin by Kazrog LLC

Alright guys, the Recabinet 4 / Thermionik plugin is nearly finished, Pre-Order starts today and there are a lot of new audio clips on the website to check out.

Head on over to the Recabinet website and take a look/listen.

Thanks for your support! :kickass:

PS - if you guys have any questions, feel free to ask here.

ETA on release? I just want to know how long I have to upgrade to the VIP package to take advantage of the release pricing.

EDIT: I just saw where you were shying from saying release date. Any clue as to the time period though?

I'm shooting for a late September release, early October worst case. The plugin itself is 99% complete, just some other formalities to tidy up (manual, factory presets, etc.)

I'm really a high gain kind of a guy (as you know) so there will be a lot more metal-friendly amps added. Mark II C+ and Randall Satan are at the top of my to-do list along with Bogner Uberschall and Soldano SLO-100. Many others I can think of also...

Amp packs will be sold in packs of 4 for $19.99 individually for $7.99. The VIP package is a really good deal because I plan on adding a lot of amps.

PS - there will also be a lot of vintage and boutique amps added as well. I know 3 different collectors personally who have offered to lend me their amps to study.

Awesome, thanks for the response. One other thing I'm curious about- were the clips recorded with a tube screamer, or is it just Recabinet by itself?

Great question. On the Ola Englund clips, all amps except for Damage were recorded with a tube screamer in front (his DIs are actually pretty dark on this recording.) For the Backmask clips, only Duality had a tube screamer in front.

Also, the clean examples have the stock Cubase compressor plugin in front set to 4:1 ratio.

Hey Now
Sorry if this has been addressed earlier, any changes to the cabs compared to Recab 3? Plans to release more cab models? Is there an improvement to the cab models or are the amp sims the only difference so far? From what I can see, its the same cabs included in V3...which are spectacular.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry if that wasn't clear. If you scroll down the new about page, you can see that a couple of new bass cabinets have been added (they are really great, maybe even better than the two from Recabinet 3.) Other than that (and the improved speaker dynamics / power tube interaction that's possible now) there are no changes or additions to Recabinet itself. Amp modeling is the primary focus of this release.

Kazrog,

Are the cabs on the Backmask examples the stock ones ? If so, I'm upgrading.

Those Ola examples threw me off completely, they've got this fuzzy-distorted quality that I don't appreciate. I was quite worried tbh.

From the Backmask on however, they sound absolutely fantastic.
Will you include these ones as presets ?

In any case, you've got a winner in your hands.

Thanks,
Than

All examples use stock cabs, and no post processing other than Recabinet's built in EQ. Ola's DIs were a bit dark as I mentioned earlier, so I coaxed a bit more brightness out of them in various ways (TSE 808 and/or amp EQ settings.) I'm not sure what guitar/pickup combo he used on the "Rejects" album (I'll have to ask, or maybe he's already answered this somewhere.)

The Backmask examples use my Ran Crusher 7 string with EMG 707 pickups. I will be posting some more clips soon for you guys with one of my guitars that has passives as well. Thanks for the feedback!

I'll be happy to include all of these as factory presets.

Sounds great! Just bought Revalver but might have to buy this too! Are you planning on releasing a demo of some sort? Sorry if that's already been asked!

I find it a bit hard to compare the VIP package to the normal one. How many amps are expected to be done over the two years, and is there or will there be a list of amps that are to be done?

More than enough to justify the price difference. The collection will be expanding massively. The bulk of the R&D effort was in developing the underlying technology (which is not like anything else in the industry I'm aware of.) Now that it's developed, modeling each amp will happen fairly quickly.

There's not a formal list of amps to be done, and I'm still open to requests. That said, I have an informal list of more than 30 amps (and counting) I'm planning.

Shane, have you compared it to the Axe FX II at all?

I've owned an Axe FX II, Axe FX Ultra, and a Kemper at different times. While they were all very nice units, I was never as happy with them as I was with real amps for pure tone. The real amps are ultimately the standard I judged the models in Thermionik by, not any other modeler.

Hmmm, I'm not sure the customer base will necessarily see it that way; not with the amp modelling market utterly flooded right now. I think there is a significant portion of the marketplace who want Axe FX II and Kemper quality from a plugin, at a tenth of the cost of those hardware units. Might be worth bearing in mind. :headbang:
