Interpolation was the "better" way that I thought of when I wrote my previous post. If that's the case with gapless plugins out there now, then perhaps the sonic issue I've noticed isn't the methodology behind the gapless implementation, but the way the IRs themselves were captured.

Having too many options would just make it harder and more time consuming to find good sounds. For someone like me who doesn't know much about the whole thing, the last thing you want is so many options that you find it intimidating and it makes you unsure of where to start.

The industry is full of different options but I think recabinet is onto a good thing and there is no sense continually adding options to it. The way I do things is more about writing/recording music, and something simple allows me to get a sound that is useable without having to stuff around with lots of things.

I would just like to have more or different IR's with Recabinet 4. Maybe updated versions of say the Mesa cab.

I would personally love to see a 5150 III, Engl Fireball 100 and Savage 120. Or anything else really that no one's bothered to model, or has made shitty models of *cough Line 6 HDs Fireball cough*

I haven't had much use out of my recabinet 3 I recently bought, I'm hoping this upgrade will bring it to the next level. I think my reasoning for not using it much is simply because I can't find the right combo of amp / amp sim with it. Looking forward to this one. Will the upgrade for 3 users be fairly low cost?

Its hard to comment or get hyped with so little information, but its good to know that something is coming so I should keep an eye out, at least.
I'd love to see a 5150iii model and an ENGL Savage. Also, I would love to see the multi-IR mic placement thing in recabinet.
It feels a lot more like I'm dialing in a sound this way as opposed to flicking through ones that have already been dialed in, if that makes sense.

Agree with pretty much all the requests.

Basically, if I could have an amp sim suite that had less widely modeled amps, that would be great. Less Recto/6505 or 5150 (though if those were included in as well I wouldn't mind), and more:

ENGL Savage, 5150 III, Marshall JVM, Fortin Satan, DV Mark Triple 6, VHT/Freyette Sig:X, Framus Cobra...etc.

I just wanted to ask, how do you think would compare to something such as the Axe FX II or Kemper Profiling Amp? Any way we could get some sound clips vs these expensive competitors?

If anyone wants to help out with a DI test down the road, I'd be happy to post it. At one point or another I've owned an Axe FX Ultra, II, and 2 different Kemper profilers, but I subsequently sold them.

Thermionik is a very straightforward plugin and offers amp and cabinet modeling of extremely high quality at a low cost to entry. Where Thermionik definitely isn't trying to compete is in the "all things to all people" category, for example there won't be any effects, it's assumed you already have more than enough effects in your DAW plugins menu, and there's no way in hell I'm going to try to equal or beat Eventide or SoundToys in the FX category.

As far as the amp modeling quality, it should be at least as good (if not better) than any digital hardware based modelers out there. One reason it can definitely be superior is that it isn't bandlimited to any particular resolution - a distinct advantage over proprietary hardware.
