Third and final presidential debate, 2008

Bad news for McCain.

Indeed. Obama is a liar, but the fact that he is a liar isn't the real bad news. The real bad news is that he is a liar and the American people are either too dumb to know it, or don't care, or both.

And let me say further that your statement, V5, contains even more truth than you intended. Bad news. The coverage I saw last night on the local news and on Nightline (I think it was) was entirely biased. Indeed the news media is bad.

I didn't watch the whole thing, just bits and pieces on various news channels. I think it's safe to say this country is fucked no matter who becomes president.

What I heard about it was that McCain wanted returning veterans to become teachers without passing certifications. What the fuck?

1) Who gives a fuck about the public funding bullshit?

2) Have you ever seen a McCain add that wasn't negative? I honestly haven't. And he was the one who promised a clean campaign.

The fact that THESE are the things that stick out to you during the debate displays your blinding bias toward McCain.

Who cares? Maybe "public funding" is a small issue (maybe not), but what the problem is is that Obama seems to have no qualms with making a promise, and then when he doesn't feel like keeping it, he doesn't. And it is becoming more and more clear that this is not an issue for America. Nobody seems to think that character and honesty is important any more. Nobody correlates that a candidate willing to lie about something that you don't care about will be willing to lie about things you do care about.

Clean campaign? So, real character flaws and real issues are not fair game? People do need to be aware of who they are electing. I think McCain brought up the real issue of who was running a clean campaign. He consistently tries to keep his party in line when the people get out of line. Obama just lets his party make unfair attacks and says nothing.

America is infatuated with this liar and it makes me sick.

I forgot that it's not worth the effort it takes to debate with AchrisK.

Dude, you don't know what the hell you're talking about, as usual, and if you think OBAMA is a liar, perhaps you'd be interested in reading up on a fella named JOHN MCCAIN. Ever heard of him? He's a big fucking liar. He's also old and stupid and when he has no argument because it was just refuted in the sentence prior, he just reiterates the argument anyway. Why? Because he has fucking Alzheimer's.

AcK plays a sheep itt

I don't know what you mean.

@Dodens:

When did McCain lie? I am not saying he never has, but what are you talking about?

What you just said there is a lot of the tactics used by the democrats in this election. Just say stuff, and people will assume they are facts.

Last night on the local news they interviewed two people to get reactions. A lady with a heavy Mexican accent who I assume was a Democrat, who said the debate was pretty much just them repeating the same things as in the other debates, and she still supports McCain. She obviously wasn't listening or was too dumb to understand. An independent who was a black guy with a sort of Jamaican accent. I think all he said was the McCain did better than before. No republican response.

Then Nightline had two people summing up the debate. Both seemed to be Democrats. There was no disagreement. The media is in love with Obama and their reporting is so biased it hurts!

Do your own god damn research man, you've shown far too many times that people providing you with the information you ask for doesn't get us anywhere. You talk about Obama's character, yet you completely ignore the fact that he sold himself out for political expediency, among other things. And there are countless examples of this, the least of which being initially condemning televangelists like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell as "agents of intolerance", and then a few years later when it's politically pertinent, speaking at Falwell's college and renouncing what he once said, because he knows that a Republican speaking out against leading Christian leaders will never get elected. People attacked Kerry for being a "flip-flopper", but McCain has gone back (and forth, mind you) on more issues than any other candidate I can think of at the moment. Again, do your own damn research instead of just being against Obama because the media (sans Fox News) tends to favor him because he's not an idiot like McCain is. It's not "liberal bias", it's intelligence bias.

You mean, it hasn't resulted in me agreeing with your point of view...

EDIT: sorry for the huge edit:

Again, do your own damn research instead of just being against Obama because the media (sans Fox News) tends to favor him because he's not an idiot like McCain is. It's not "liberal bias", it's intelligence bias.

That is NOT why I am against Obama. I disagree with him on a number of issues, and I do not trust him.

Maybe I should express my frustration with the media in an entirely separate post. It is just maddening to see the media cover this crap with so much obvious bias. And that wouldn't even be such a bad thing, but you know the media sways the opinion of the sheeple. So basically the media is campaigning for Obama, plus Obama is spending 4x what McCain is spending (because he broke his promise). So many of the people of America are so swayed by who is better looking and more well spoken. Obviously Obama has those things in his favor. I mean, poor McCain was tortured and has physical irregularities because of it, and what should be working in his favor is working against him because he isn't as pretty as Obama, and he can't lift his arms over his shoulders. Then he is constantly associating McCain with Bush, and everyone hates bush. So no matter how true or untrue those accusations are (and McCain is obviously more close to Bush's thinking than Obama, but it doesn't mean they are the same), it is what people remember.

So the unfairness of the media and the stupidity of the people is very frustrating to me, as you can imagine. I will try to speak of that separately from my views of Obama as a person and a presidential candidate.

You mean, it hasn't resulted in me agreeing with your point of view...

No, you're obviously just blindly following McCain without doing any research other than watching programs that feature talking points.

Didn't you say in a thread that you didn't really care about politics or government? This was a while ago.

No, I am not blindly following McCain. There is so much I disagree with Obama on, that I would vote for just about any other candidate, including Hillary Clinton. In addition to that, I do like McCain and I think he would be a good leader. I agree with him on a lot of things, but not everything.

Didn't you say in a thread that you didn't really care about politics or government? This was a while ago.

I said that I have not followed politics for most of my life. I was ignorant. My parents didn't really discuss it with my sister and I. When I first moved out all I really cared about was metal and weed. Then as I became a Christian and got married I just didn't have a background in politics, and I wasn't a newspaper reader or news watcher. My wife was always more up on the issues. So, yeah, that could be stated as "not caring". But in recent years my interest has grown a lot. This doesn't invalidate my views. The thing is, I had views and values, I just didn't know how they lined up with or applied to political issues. The more I learn about the way Dems and Republicans think, the more I find that my views line up with conservative Republicans. I mean, to a degree that surprised me. And not just social issues, but government and fiscal issues as well.

So I am not blindly following.
