This thread is for Pate...

That's exciting!

Almost as exciting as the couple nights I have spent in Peoria during my college years.

Though I did see KISS there once.
I believe Paul Stanley kept saying, "Peoria is the rock capital of Illinois"

I love that man, but he is wrong...

How would you like to be a fuckin' Pittsburgh Pirate Fan? haven't had even a 500 season for 16 years. This team is like listening to "Cheap Trick" or "Trivium" or that(what they called) Bullet my Valentine. I remember going to the old Forbes Field here in Pittsburgh just to see players like Ernie Banks, Don Kessinger, Ron Santo and Ferguson Jenkins. Cubs will win a series at some point, even a blind squirrel can find a nut. Phillies and Rays would be a great series.

No, of course not.
As I said, all in good fun!

I just brought that up as an example of how similar things happen in the music scene as well.

Though, if you recall, Joacim Cans from HammerFall got a beer bottle smashed across his face in Sweden by a die-hard black metal fan, simply for being in a "power metal" band....... That was messed up!

Yeah that was a dick move towards Joacim, he had to do the music video for Hearts on Fire with those stitches still in I think.

For the record.....I like both teams. That seems to short-circuit some people's minds when I tell them that because they can't fathom how I can't pick a side.

I can't figure out the "one or the other" exclusive mindset either. The only time you ever have to choose is if they're playing each other. I'm finding myself more of a Cubs fan than a Sox fan, but I do like both. But having grown up in Cincinnati, I got used to the National League, so all other things being equal, I have to stick with the NL (i.e. no designated hitter) league team. So I lean towards the Cubs, but I've been to zero games at Wrigley and two at the Cell. And as soon as the Cubs got booted from the playoffs first, I was still pulling for the Sox to win their series.

Pfft. Try being a lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan. Different sport, but still.... :ill: Being a Bengals fan allows me to shrug off the latest Cubs train wreck as pretty insignificant. At least they made it to the postseason!

Well, OK, I will say one thing about the Pirates, I still remember many years ago when their uniforms included those coffee-can shaped cylindrical caps. Yeesh :)

Those hats were awesome.

Yeah, because they really helped showcase Bill Madlock's afro!!!!!

Cheap Trick, "I want you to want me" is one of the most horrid songs ever. I wanted to vomit everytime I heard it. And from what I remember hearing from them was all mainstream garbage. Hey, it's just my opinion. For all the Bengals fans out there, I do take pity on you, a plethora of good players and can't find a way to win. I think it starts at the top with poor ownership. And the Bengals have the ugliest uniforms in the NFL. Can't seem to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers either, and until the Bengals do, they will flounder at the bottom of the AFC Central. The Pirates in 1979 won their last World Series, and their all black uniforms with gold lines, made them the coolest looking team in all of baseball.

There's no point in debating with you over the Cheap Trick thing, as you said it's a matter of opinion and therefore subjective.

But as for me, I'll personally take their "horrid mainstream garbage" over 95% of what comes out of the metal scene these days, personally ;) Yeah I said it. lol

I was @ Game 4, 10/13/79, way up in peanut heaven in left field @ Three Rivers. I was so bummed when they blew it in the 8th. I used to be a huge Bucco fan, back in the day. :)

I'm pretty sure I bought one of those ugly hats that day! :erk:
