I think part of the issue is the term "Pop" music. It's not a genre, it literally stands for "Popular" music. It just so happens that mainstream America has a more simplistic taste, therefore the basic structure of writing a hit song is built on hook, and usually within the first 20 seconds of the song.

I guess I've never looked at pop music as anything specific.

Getting back to the origin of the thread, well, the Cubs are taking a dirt nap now, so the Phillies can wrap up an overdue championship, maybe tonight. I said it was going to be the Phillies and Rays. I got alot of friends in Philly, Go Phils!!!!!
