to subwoofer....or not to subwoofer....

Well, in my quest to upgrade my equipment....I'm now going into the monitor area. I'm currently looking into Behringer 2031a or maybe Fostex, or maybe even KRK. ( but probably 2031a cause I'm a broke honky)!

But then I was thinking....what about subs? Would anyone recommend monitoring with a sub in addition to studio monitors? Or no, just get 8"+ woofer equiped monitors and be done with it?

I find it good to have a 2.1 or 5.1 system to play my mixes on as a kind of final check, since that's what most people will be listening to the music with....

I have the 2031A. Though i know there's better out there I think they are by far the best bang for the buck.

yeah....I'll probably get the 2031a too. As they are supposed to be a mackie replica.

And maybe go for the $200 M-audio SBXsub.....it has bass management too which is supposed to be better fidelity.

I wish I could get the nice mackies. I liked the 2031A's more than the Rolands though. So I knew it was quite a value. I got to try everything in a control room with lots of different monitors where I teach.
