To the home entertainment gurus...

Considering its only 9 dollars more than a regular cd I think its actually quite good! :headbang: It also has all the lyrics, a crapload of photos from the recording of the album and promo pics and the almighty, brilliant, best video clip ever for Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse. Phloggy should download it if he is bored, its really good, even if they did edit the song down :(
Is that the green computer generated one? Because I already have that somewhere. I think.

Having a DVD/VCR combo comes in handy there (as does buying a home theater with a DVD player), but I will get messed up with my consoles.

No, they suck. If either one breaks and you have to get it repaired. Then you can't watch dvd's or videos.

You can get a wireless system on Pioneer,Technis,Sony. They cost a lot more than the average.Go to any audio sound specialist...what ever you do don't go to a chain store!Go and find out all the info you need then shop around to find it cheaper prices.....if you go to a store that stocks the brand they can order what ever you want. In order to do that though you need to know what it is exactly your after first with model numbers etc.

That sounds like too much trouble. I'll probably just go somewhere I can use my Buyer's Edge card at, like Hardly Normal or someone like that.

You idiot...what I meant by don't go to a chain store was don't go there to get your info on what you need..go to the specialist 1st then walk into Harvey Normal and order what you want say you researched on the net and this is what you want...they have to do it!

I'm not after anything fancy or expensive at this stage anyway. Basically I'm intrigued by the novelty of the whole thing, so I'll probably go for the first and cheapest name brand I see.

Here is what you do spiff, get a decent set of speakers, turn them up loud. It's like 5.1, but better, because you can actually crank them without fear of damaging your gay little sound system.

You are exactly right Spiff, 5.1 is a novelty, expect it to be ignored fairly soon.

I'm with you dude! :headbang:

That is why I haven't bought a run of the mill 5.1 system with pissy speakers already. I have 2 enormous awesome speakers from my brothers old set up (his wife made him sell them when they got married and bought a house , they are too huge) that are probably the best sounding speakers I have ever heard, no joke. I am planning to use those as my front speakers for my surround set up, but I need to be able to afford a digital amp that is powerful enough to get the most out of them, and then rear speakers and a centre speaker that can keep up. Expensive. Thats why I haven't bothered yet, and also since I live at home my awesome Hi-Fi does the job for my bedroom.

I will get it all under control when I move though.

If your going to buy an reciever and a speaker set, just make sure your dvd has the right output plugs to go into the reciever.

For example my dvd player doesnt have 5.1 outputs for normal rca plugs and cables, it only has a L/R for audio out, but has a digital out. so i would need to get a reciever with a digital in to get benifit from it.

If your dvd player has the seperate rca out's, being front l/r, back l/r, center and sub, just go buy one of those cheap arse $120 buck jobs from crazy clarks and plug it in. Might not have the ultimate of sound quality but will give you an idea of what surround sound is like, then if you like it and want more sink a grand into an actual system.
