I've tried "them all" and the ones you wanna get are the CAD M179

Put them in Hyper and laugh at others....

When you're micing the toms, do you leave the resonant heads (bottom heads) on or off? I've had different experience with different drummers in a live setup, but never recorded one.

Here's what i've had the best results with ever:

Remo Clear Ambassador on bottom and top. Bottom heads pretty tight, top heads pretty loose.
Mic with CAD M179 using Shure A56D to mount it on the drum. API mic preamps.

I used this when Tracking Tony Laureano the other day (Nile, Dimmu-session) and it sounded awsome....
