Do you really find Inquisitors of Satan to be that good? It's a nice album, but that's really high praise there. The slower tracks are really good, but I think the faster ones tend to get same-y.

It is their best. And yes, it's really good.

I'm still kind of new to Black Metal

Darkthrone,Satyricon, and Dark Funeral are among the best I have heard
I'm still collecting Darkthrone albums I have 7 of them now and 2 more ordered

im suprised at the lack of dmds

my favs:
Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Bathory - Blood Fire Death
Aeternus - Beyond the Wandering Moon
Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
Nachtfalke - Doomed to Die
Moonblood - Blut und Krieg
Dissection - The Somberlain
Immortal - Pure Holocaust
Summoning - Dol Guldur
Sacramentum - Far Away from the Sun

Mayhem - DMDS
Weakling - Dead as Dreams
Burzum - Det Som En Gang Var
Bathory - Hammerheart
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal
Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger

And then... oh fuck, I dunno... Inquisitors of Satan maybe... or United Aryan Evil, or Celts, or Drawing Down the Moon, or Storm of the Light's Bane.

Yeah, that'll do.

i think i've decided that Weakling is the only "new" black metal thing i actually give much of a fuck about. Xasthur is cool, and then... there's not alot else.

Wolves in the Throne Room. Now.

1. Dimmu Borgir - Spiritual Black Dimensions
2. Immortal - At The Heart Of Winter
3. Borknagar - The Archaic Curse
4-10. Ummm...

i think thats a fair call, no emperor?
Their only real black metal album is In the Nightside Eclipse, and though a good CD (despite the horrid blurry production), it doesn't quite rank among the top ten black metal albums of all time in my book.

Oh, I forgot MY FAVOURITE FUCKING BLACK METAL ALBUM LOL.

Abyssic Hate - Suicidal Emotions. D'oh.
Me too. I love that CD, and I've been listening to it a ton lately (nice and depressing to fit my recent frame of mind). I don't know which CD in the list I posted I would replace with it, though.

Enslaved - Eld
Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Bathory - Hammerheart
Dissection - The Somberlain
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Sacramentum - Far Away from the Sun
Burzum - Det Som Engang Var
Deathspell Omega - Si Monumentum Requires Circumspice
Ulver - Bergatt
Emperor - Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk

Eh, I can't listen to it often these days. Or at least, intently enough to really get much out of it. But I still love what it's done for me in the past and still fully appreciate its brilliance.

Who the hell are Mjolnir?

Tormentor - Anno Domini
Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi
Watain - Casus Luciferi
Beherit - Drawing Down the Moon
Aeternus - ... and so the Night Became
Dawn - Slaughtersun
Sarcofago - INRI
Mercyful Fate - Melissa

hon mentions, for not otherwise being mentioned .. from memory.

Also good to see all the Blut Aus N
ord fanboyism die off.

I'm rarely in the mood for The Work Which Transforms God these days, but I still consider it a strong album, and their earlier stuff rules.

1. Burzum – Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
2. Graveland - Thousand Swords
3. Summoning - Dol Guldur
4. Aeternus – Beyond the Wandering Moon
5. Burzum – Filosofem
6. Bathory – Hammerheart
7. Immortal – Pure Holocaust
8. Darkthrone – Under A Funeral Moon
9. Dark Tribe - In Jeraspunta
10. Xibalba – Ah Dzam Poop Ek

The top 4 never changes, and 5-8 are always in the top 10. The bottom two are relatively new additions - we'll see if they stand the test of time.
