I usually have a hard time ranking stuff but this is what I've been most into the last year or so (continuosly changing though). NOt in any particular order (cause I just cant compare bands like that):

* Megadeth - my all time favs. Theres just something about their stuff...
* Machine Head - rediscovered this excellent band with "the blackening".
* Anaal Nathrakh - the best new extreme band in ages!
* Morbid Angel - Always delivers the goods.
* Akercocke - nice mix of death and progressive. Some awesome stuff.
* Nevermore - I wish more band had a approach like nevermore. Crushing muic and clean vocals.
* Nile - Awesome death metal and I love the egyptian theme.
* Mastodon - Wicked drumming is what makes this really stand out.
* The Haunted - I like their new direction. The thrash stuff started to become somewhat genereic after a while.
* Guns n' Roses - May not be metal but it's "my band" and has been since I started listenng to other music than childrens songs.
