Apologies to Vinnie Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Greg Howe, Brett Garsed, Allan Holdsworth, and many more...

He probably would be if I'd actually heard him play... I know it's bad, but I seriously haven't yet, and I won't put someone in my top 10 merely on their reputation... He's playing on the new Planet X album though, so I'm sure I'll get a taste of his genius then...

^Dude... listen to Heavy Machinery (w/Jens and Anders Johansson) and Metal Fatigue ASAP... Holdsworth is the master of phrasing.

1. Alex de Grassi
2. Paul Gilbert
3. Michael Romeo
4. John Petrucci
5. David Gilmour
6. Steve Vai
7. Alirio Diaz

Gosh that was hard.

1. Paul Gilbert (He's just awesome and can play in many ways)
2. Michael Romeo (Obiviously he's really skilled and some of he's solos rock)
3. Yngwie Malmsteen (He just has to be mentioned. XD)
4. John Petrucci (Great guitarist. Technically amazing)
5. Jari Mäenpää (imo. He has been unnoticed by some people. He's a heck lot better than Alexi Laiho for example.)
6. Marty Friedman (I just like his style)
7. Eric Johnson (I remember someone in a finnish forum saying "He's so good that it makes me laugh")
8. Jason Becker (Well, he is great)
9. Brian May (Heh, he was the best guitarist for me when I was a kid)
10. Steve Vai (not exactly my style, but still pretty good guitarist

1. Paul Gilbert (He's just awesome and can play in many ways)

Haha - our National Retail Sales Manager totally looks like Paul Gilbert. I was sitting across the table from him at a meeting yesterday laughing my ass off - "dude, I'm in a meeting with Paul Gilbert! How fucking sweet is that?"

It was funny. I don't really remember what the meeting was about though...

I thought Greg Howe would play the guitars, luckily it's Allan Holdsworth, because I don't like Greg Howe in any way.

Do you have Derek Sherinian's Mythology?
Allan's solo in Day of the Dead is awesome, as well as the one in Trojan Horse.

NOpe, don't have Mythology... Greg Howe is awesome!!! I wouldn't have minded one bit if he had played on the new Planet X, though I still reckon Tony MacAlpine was the best...

Does anyone else on this forum love Ron Jarzombek??? I don't think I've seen him in anyone elses top 10!!! Yet he's an unbelievable guitarist... :worship:
