2. John Petrucci - fantastic composing, outstanding playing
3. Michael Romeo - just as above
4. Joe Satriani - always has a classy sound
5. Kiko Loureiro - amazing solos from Angra, No Gravity is an outstanding album as well. And he also recorded a good jazz album recently!
6. Tony Macalpine - Saw him live, a true virtuoso
7. Stephan Forte - fantastic composer and everyting else
8. Vinnie Moore - he's here due to "The Maze", "Time Odyssey" and some other of his albums
9. Chris Francis - It's a pity he's playing in a girlfriends' band Ten, but he is definetly and outstanding player.
10. Luca Turilli - From him and Rusty Cooley I chose the Italian job :)

And I'll let myself post a list of unknown guitarists (can be found on youtube), which seem extremely talented:

1. Paco Hernandez - His songs "Faustian Nightmare" and "The World's Bravest Man" are simply astonishing. And he does it all by himself using his computer and stuff he has at home! This guy is amazing.
2. Guga Stuart - Apart from very well played covers of Loureiro's and Vai's songs he also posted some of his songs in which he shows all he's got. Very good stuff.
3. Antonio Ceci - The only one besides MJR I saw playing Sea Of Lies solo :)

NOpe, don't have Mythology... Greg Howe is awesome!!! I wouldn't have minded one bit if he had played on the new Planet X, though I still reckon Tony MacAlpine was the best...

Does anyone else on this forum love Ron Jarzombek??? I don't think I've seen him in anyone elses top 10!!! Yet he's an unbelievable guitarist... :worship:

He would have been #1 on mine if I could have agreed on an order to put the rest of them in.

Hmmm... this is a tough list to decide but(in no particular order):

Brett Garsed
Roine Stolt(flower kings)
Mike Holmes(IQ)
Tony Macalpine
John Petrucci
Robert Fripp
Neal Morse(spocks beard)
Allan Holdsworth
Scott henderson
Simon Hosford(On the virg)
TJ Helmerich

I love Zappa:worship:

In the 60s he made a recording were him and a woman made sex noises. It was fake but he got arrested anyway because the person who requested the tape was an undercover cop... he spent 12 days in prison. I don't know why I thought of that but it is pretty interesting because this supposedly was one of the reasons behind his politically motivated lyrics.

Not really in an order that's set in stone or anything...

Steve Vai
MJR
Mattias Eklundh
Mathias from the "Adrenaline Kings"
Al Petrelli
Jason Becker
Marty Freeman
Daniel Gildenlow (More for his guitar composition)
Gary Wehrkamp
Brendt Allman

1. MICHAEL ROMEO (undisputed champion of the guitar world)
2. Kiko Loureiro (I've seen some sick sick live stuff from him, fantastico)
3. Alexi Lahio (a true innovator before he became a drunk)
4. Jari Maenpaa (Man does Ensiferum miss him, best solos and sweeps, period)
5. John Petrucci (Romeo rocks him, and DT fans hate it!)
6. Marty Friedman (Master of note choices, Rust in Peace is my favorite)
7. Jason Becker (Along with Marty, Cacophony was the best duo ever)
8. Eddie Van Halen (Brought tapping into the mainstream, Hot for Teacher!!)
9. Jeff Waters (Where is he on everybody's lists? Plays with true soul)
10. Yngwie Malmsteen (He'd be higher up if he wasn't so full of himself)

Honorable mentions: Muhammed Suiçmez and Sami Raatikainen

Buckethead?!?! come on now.
