dont get me wrong, i think dragonforce are wank, but as i lay dying's guitarist at 49 and herman li at 81, on what grounds is as i lay dying's guitarist better than herman li.

personally i reckon lamb of god are about 20x better than as i lay dying as well, and yet their guitarist is much lower down the table.

^ Nice! That is THE guitar album for beginers IMO.

My current list (it's almost the same):

1. Yngwie Malmsteen
2. Tony MacAlpine
3. Sami Virtanen
4. Shawn Lane
5. Michael Romeo
6. Al Di Meola
7. Ritchie Blackmore
8. Randy Rhoads (just remebered how great he was)
9. Allan Holdsworth
10. Steve Vai
11. Mike Stern

I'm listening to Suspended Animation right now.... I've never been a big fan of Petrucci, but I'm trying to get into his music more 'cause I plan to go to G3... what if I become as much of a fanboy of him as I am of Malmsteen and MacAlpine. :guh:

Suspended Animation is a great album of guitar playing, aside from the fact that it is JP playing... THey're all really great songs, except for Tunnel Vision which I find a bit annoying...

My list at the moment:

1. John Petrucci
2. Tony MacAlpine
3. Steve Vai
4. Jason Becker
5. Marty Friedman
6. Ron Jarzombek
7. Michael Romeo
8. Jeff Loomis
9. Chris Broderick
10. James Murphy

Don't know if anyone has seen this, but it's got MJR at number 9 which is pretty cool... Some of it I agree with, though how some of them are above others, is pretty gay...

Anyway, let the discussion begin...

they lost credibility as soon as the put greg howe on a "metal" guitar list and listed him as being in Planet X (I love greg howe......but the guy's only recorded 3 albums that could be considered metal and only one of those was even done willingly)

what has Michael Schenker to do in that list???
And why is Jason Becker on place 31 only?
Very strange list indeed, but thanks for sharing
