Top 10 Old School Thrash Albums

Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Heathen - Victims of Deception
Kreator - Endless Pain
Slayer - Show No Mercy
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Coroner - Punishment for Decadence
Metal Church - Metal Church
Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Hallows Eve - Tales of Terror

Slayer - Reign in Blood
Destruction - Eternal Devastation
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Protector - A Shedding of Skin
Sodom - Agent Orange
Deathrow - Deception Ignored
Schizo - Main Frame Collapse
Vendetta - Go And Live... Stay And Die
Necrodeath - Fragments of Insanity
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains

And some others I need to include, but can't. I guess this shows how I am into the heavier/darker and of the thrash spectrum. This list is in no order.

Man, I dont see how someone could pick Reign in Blood over Show No Mercy. Black magic has one of the best riffs eva

Because RIB is better. And yes Black Magic does have one of the best riffs ever... perhaps my favorite Slayer riff, but as an album RIB is still better.

Hell Awaits is objectively the best Slayer album, and in my opinion the best Thrash Metal album of all time, since it epitomizes what Thrash Metal is.

There's nothing objective about it actually... however I agree that it is an excellent album. The title track is my fav Slayer tune and Kill Again is probably in my top 5 Slayer tunes. I can't stand the production on this album. The solos are too loud, some of the riffs are too low and there is way too much reverb on everything. RIB's production is flawless on the other. Plus the last track on HA is filler seeing as the second half of it is just a reprise of the title track. RIB is more consistent, thus it gets my vote as best Slayer record. HA would either be #2 or #3 (Seasons is close). But yeah it is probably their "thrashiest" album I'll agree with you there.

Slayer - Haunting the Chapel (I wish every day of my life that this had been a full-length)
I think if this album had been a full length composed of songs as good as the first 3 tracks on this disc with quality production like on RIB it would be their best album.

Wtf?:erk: no one mentions Agent Steel

I don't consider them Thrash Metal.

Slayer - Reign in Blood
Destruction - Eternal Devastation
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Protector - A Shedding of Skin
Sodom - Agent Orange
Deathrow - Deception Ignored
Schizo - Main Frame Collapse
Vendetta - Go And Live... Stay And Die
Necrodeath - Fragments of Insanity
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains

And some others I need to include, but can't. I guess this shows how I am into the heavier/darker and of the thrash spectrum. This list is in no order.

What do you think of Sadus, in particular Swallowed In Black?

There's nothing objective about it actually...

That was pretty obviously a joke. :loco:

Sadus - Swallowed in Black

You win. I love that album, though I like Illusions/Chemical Exposure just as much.

edit: I should make a list.

Sadus - Swallowed in Black
Sadus - Illusions/Chemical Exposure
Sabbat - Dreamweaver
Sabbat - History of a Time to Come
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Sepultura - Schizophrenia
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Coroner - No More Color

I really need to get more old school thrash. Regardless:

Slayer - Show No Mercy (WAY better than reign in blood.)
Megadeth - Killing Is My Business
Exodus - Bonded By Blood
Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Metallica - Kill Em All
Metallica - Master Of Puppets
Anthrax - Among The Living

I can't even make 10! I suck

Slayer - show no mercy
Metallica - kill 'em all
Exodus - bonded by blood
Coroner - punishment for decadende
Coroner - R.I.P
Dark Angel - darkness descends
Possessed - seven churches
Sodom - Agent Orange
Venom - Black Metal

that's it!

Maybe something like this (no order):

Coroner - Mental Vortex
Destruction - Sentence of Death
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Sabbat - History of a Time to Come
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Kreator - Extreme Aggressions
Slayer - South of Heaven
Artillery - Terror Squad
Sodom - Agent Orange
Infernäl Mäjesty - None Shall Defy

When that Sabbat album first came out, I used to freak out my roommates at the time by playing the intro. They would yell at me to turn it off. I tended to get up earlier, and put in on when they were still asleep. James Murphy and I used to go on and on about the intense vocals on that album.

Slayer - Hell Awaits
Exodus - Bonded By Blood
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Artillery - Terror Squad
Sodom - In The Sign Of Evil
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Rigor Mortis - Rigor Mortis
Slayer - Show No Mercy
Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare

It's like a blend of speed metal (not melodic) and thrash metal, depends of the opinions

IMO it's more thrash metal
