Top 3 NWOBHM releases

1. Def Leppard - High N' Dry (yes, it's 1981, and yes, it's fucking metal. Killer metal)
2. Iron Maiden - s/t
3. Judas Priest - British Steel

Stained Class (also Priest) is just missing JayK's imposed cut (came out in '78), but it rules even more. And Saxon deserves serious consideration for all THREE of their releases - Wheels of Steel, Power & the Glory, and Denim & Leather.

they aren't. they inspired the nwobhm bands (a lot) but had nothing to do with it really.

I always lumped them in with the NWOBHM; I realize they were around long before it and were a certain influence, but they didn't really gain any sort of prominence until Stained Class ('78) and British Steel ('80), ya know?

I dunno about you guys. But it really was kind of... enlightening? (wrong word), i guess I never really put 2 and 2 together... but metal has basically been around for 30 years. Between the Judas Priest concert and some of the discussions i've seen/had both here and other places and last nights concert.... Theres an entire generation of metalheads that are closing in on retirement age...

At the concert last night there were these two people who looked liked somebody's parents or like... young grandparents.... except the "grampa" was wearing a vader shirt.

Crazy eh?

Metal's been around for almost 37 years, sonny.

And speak up willya, us old-timers can't hear you so good.

Def Leppard? Are you kidding? I was all over that band back in the days of big hair bands, one armed drummers, and spandex loving front men.

I just always associated 'em with the likes of Guns N' Roses and MTV friendly hard rock bands of the 80's

I'm aware you've heard Pyromania & Hysteria, but have you ever listened to High & Dry?

I still say you haven't. :tickled:
