2013 was a great year. I'll probably have a lot to add later, this is mostly thrash from my yearly playlists.

cba to give yearly top 5s or w/e 'cause i have too many gaps in a couple of years, but my favourite by far, probably controversially around here, is harvey milk's A SMALL TURN OF HUMAN KINDNESS

rms' list looks really great and i may well try to hear a bunch of those.

Here's an attempt at 2015 so far:

Black Fast - Terms of Surrender
Mendel - Oblivion
Skeletal Remains - Condemned to Misery
Chapel of Disease - The Mysterious Ways of Repetitive Art
Ufomammut - Ecate

EPs:
Legionary - Dominate & Depopulate
Droid - Disconnected

Which ones haven't you heard? I can send some good vibes for some rather than all..

STILL haven't heard the revelation. i'm sry i will try to rectify this soon. also deep mountains, hellish crossfire (don't THINK i've heard that anyway), that particular against nature, alda, sadhak, night demon s/t (i like the new one), kayo dot (random), mare cognitum, capilla ardiente, elder, beardfish

For the Sake of No One is almost as good as Release, but I think it's up there with never comes/s/t

Hellish Crossfire, I think, is the best "new" thrash band..huge fan

Last 5-6 Against Nature's are all 70s rock style, that's probably my favorite. Fallen Rock is the only one without Brenner singing.

Sadhak = Warning

Night Demon's EP I think is much better than their release..awesome Jaguar cover too.

Kayo Dot is just outstanding..prog, I guess?

Elder is sick, rock-esque as well?

EternalMetal, Surgical Steel was mostly met with praise unless I'm misrembering?

Edit: yeah I'm remembering correctly. The majority of reviews on MA have it cranked to 80-100% enough to hold the album up over a few bitter sounding reviews (0%, 8%, 20%)

Oh, I havent read any MA reviews on the album since I bought it the day it came out, and already formed my own opinion about the album. I have read positive things in the media, but I figured this was just because Carcass is pretty high profile, and generally mainstream metalheads are easy to please. I just expected the guys around here to be a bit more critical about the album, which I find to be very unmemorable and sterile, despite being proficiently played. Not that I find it to be absolutely reprehensible, but I would give it more like a 6/10, and certainly wouldnt put it in the AOTY class.

I think a lot of people rated the Carcass album highly because it's impressive work being their first album in 17 years. Not many bands can reform after that long and not miss a step.

Except Satan released an album in the same year after an even longer break and absolutely killed it. Ive defintely heard worse comeback albums than Carcass though.

Maybe im just in the minority. Im quite a big fan of their older material (though Swansong to a lesser extent), and I feel like they just did not recapture the feel of what made this band so great in the past.
