Bump for Drudkh .

If you think it's their best, raise your (white) hand :D

So far, my rank :

BioW > AA = TSR

FL has been on my hard drive for far too long. I need to listen to it again.

The Summoning is excellent. I love that Black Language (Ebonics?) song. Not because of the orc language, cus face it, I cant understand the guy anyway, but because of the batle march type sound. Land of the Dead is good and so is Northward.

But Jesu is pissing over everyone else once again. And with only an EP. Shows how strong it is.

I still find myself digging Bloodthorn's "Genocide", one of this year's huge surprises so far. Definitely a lot stronger than their other releases.

I've also been listening to a lot of new death metal releases, such as Lust Of Decay's "Purity Through Dismemberment", Benighted's "Identisick", the Exhumed/Ingrowing split ("Something Sickened This Way Comes"), Drawn And Quartered's "Hail Infernal Darkness", etc. Dim Mak's "Knives Of Ice" is a brand new DM release, and has already reached cult status in underground death metal circles, featuring the machine John Longstreth on drums (groundbreaking drumming OTR). En Vind Av Sorg and other DM fans take note.

What do you lads think of the new Celtic Frost and Ihsahn records, btw?

I've heard approx 4 minutes from the new Celtic Frost and it was really surprisingly good.

Both Summoning and Drudkh are great. Not too worried about comparing them to previous releases just because there's no point with these bands is there? It's just consistency we're dealing with, which is why TSR was a dip simply because the experiment of whatever they were trying to do failed.

Darkthrone's finest since "Total Death" or possibly even "Panzerfaust". Kickass ugly, thrashy, punky black metal. Makes me want to kick a prog fan in the balls. "The Cult Of Goliath" is one of the best songs they've ever written. :kickass: :kickass:

Keep Of Kalessin - Armada

I won't claim that this matched my extremely high expectations, but it's still a great release. A bit more back to the basics than the flawless "Reclaim" EP, perhaps - where said EP created majestic ambient soundscapes (mainly because of the very subtle key work), this one is more full-on attack with almost no keys at all. Obsidian hasn't lost his talent for writing killer songs, though, so this is still a release that fans of extreme metal should check out ( except people who dislike clean productions).

I'm loving Operation: Mindcrime II even more than i was hoping to. First of all, the album goes beyond the concept of "grower", it's simply a 100% pure Queensryche album with all that comes with it, especially in the department of "listening it carefully" or "discovering new things with every single listening session". It has a-l-l the elements that i desired from it: Unique, fresh, "never heard before" (and some we heard in Mindcrime I of course) melodies that only Queensryche can write, inspired riffing, "to drool on" solos, Tate is an actor again and the songs are authentically PROGRESSIVE. On the long run, i don't care to care (!) about who wrote the songs, even though i believe that only a direct question to the band could please my possible curiocity, all that matters is that the album transcends some amazing emotions and feelings. Of course it is definetally not recommended to any impatient listeners. As i have said before (i think) when i first heard "Rage For Order", i thought it was mediocre, only after months (maybe a year) i discovered all its musical wealth and what is so special about it. Of course Mindcrime II is not a RFO, but it has lots of its qualities.
