i'm pretty sure that bärsärker means "clad in bearhide"!
they also had ulfhednar and svinfylking, which wear clad in wolf- and swinehides!
these where warriors who would bring themselves into rage before a battle so they wouldn't feel any pain and fight until they die! the roman legionaries feared these fierce warriors like nothing else, the "furor teutonicus", the germanic wrath!
