these where warriors who would bring themselves into rage before a battle so they wouldn't feel any pain and fight until they die! the roman legionaries feared these fierce warriors like nothing else, the "furor teutonicus", the germanic wrath!
"Svinefylkerene" was the men running in the first line of the "army" plowing through the enemy lines, so that the other warriors could go through the enemy lines.
