Since the X30 thread is actually for the X30 (doh!), I decided to start a new thread..

Long story short, my X50 needs a beta-round as I have no chance to find every bugs myself .. Because of this there are a few features missing (auto quality, poweramp normalization etc) ..

The actual plugin (and more information) can be found here:
http://www.theserinaexperiment.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=85

Because of it's current cpu-usage it's not suited for every computers

Feel free to share your thoughts and clips :headbang:

Copied from X30 thread...

I worked with the X50 last night for maybe an hour. I'll be honest, I simply loaded up my go-to Lepou's Lecto solo patch incorporating the vintage channel. It has the Mokafix Cream tube in front of it, Sir2 after lecto with a favorite impulse loaded and my favorite reverb for some ambiance. I dropped the X50 in under Lecto for tweaking and comparison to the Lecto.

Right off the bat, I was impressed how good the X50 sounds. It actually sounded quite similar to the way I have the Lecto set up, and I love my Lecto sound. It actually feels as if it has a bit more gain than the Lecto. I really enjoyed the power amp options. Onqel, I would love to see these options left in the final version, or at least the option to choose from the most popular tube choices (maybe not all the ones you already have available in the beta). It's great to know you tackled working out the poweramp section at all! I was disappointed at the gui buttons not working but I understand you're working on that. I am correct in my thinking that only the red channel is selectable and the white buttons like "bright" do not currently work?

I didn't think the CPU usage was that bad. I was a bit scared from what Onqel was saying, but it wasn't bad at all, and the selected quality settings were perfect. The X50 did not sound bad at all even on low setting. I should state though I'm using a quad core Zeon at 3.16Ghz.

All in all, I thought the X50 sounded very good so far! A world of difference from the X30 in a VERY good way. I was doing direct comparisons to the Lecto which isn't fair I know, but I wanted to know which I preferred. It's already close, but I'll hold off final judgment until the X50 is complete. At any case, the X50 is already a weapon anyone should have in their arsenal. It's just insane that LePou and Onqel are developing such high quality plug ins and donating them to the community for free. Onqel, you really deserve a major pat on the back for your efforts. I know it hasn't been easy for you. We appreciate everything that you do! Thanks!

OSX please!!! :hotjump::hotjump::hotjump:

onqel has said many times he's not interested in a mac port.

i appreciate the frustration, as i am a mac user myself.

anyways, sounds good! it'll be a while before i get to try it out, but i'm quite eager!

thanks,

Compared it to the Axe FXs 5150 and AT3s 5150. Axe FX is way more muddy. AT3 is tiny bit less perfect than TSE's.
TSE's is the best 5150 sim right now!!! :hotjump:

Wouldn't have thought a freeware could surpass the AXE FX these days, but it just has happened! :worship:

!

You have to first switch the channel with the button in the section to the left, then it switches to green channel and you can use the crunch and bright buttons :)

I haven't disabled the crunch/bright switches for the RED channel, will remember this for the final version.
By default the red channel should be set to "Plus" version because the ampsim is modeled after that, but I've made a mistake and set the default mode to Standard.. Sorry for this :p

I know, but maybe posting it in every thread he opens starts to annoy him so much that he changes his mind. :saint:

hahaha, the discussion never stops :p
If I were running a (commercial) company I wouldn't hesitate developing for both PC and Mac .. but as this is just a hobby (and freeware) I just want to concentrate on one platform, and since I only have a PC that's an easy choice at the moment

:saint:Onquel, I am loving your new ampsim :OMG:
I have played today a little with it and it sounds really good to my ears! :)
And seems to be very tweakable,

Just quick basic clip of one song from my band, no automation in drums, guitars, etc etc, basic drum pattern too, only to test the x50!!

Sounds very good John, my congrats!
