Turisas cancels ProgPower USA appearance

For fucks sake can somebody have an ounce of
profesionalism these days..
I`ll agree with Glenn that the band probably has no idea that their management cancelled this on them..........

These guys looked interesting as well :(

That sucks Glenn! Glad you were able to get someone great in their place though!

BTW: CHRIS!!! Damn you are a FINE looking guy! Anyone else notice that? I don't remember you looking that fine last year! LOL

Just saw the e-mail from Glenn. That royally sucks! I was actually looking forward to seeing Turisas. I saw them a couple years back at PaganFest and thought they kick ass.

To bad somebody ended up being a dick and screwing Glenn over like that (and for that matter a good many of us as well). I hope it was not the band itself, as I thought they were really cool from the brief moment I got to meet them after PaganFest.

I am not familiar with this Blackguard outfit at all. I'll have to go check them out, so I at least know what to expect.

Wow, how shitty. That's all I can say civilly right now. That, and Glenn must have balls of steel to endure so many podiatric invasions. Surely will give Blackguard a chance. Sounds like they'll be worth it from that video. Like the keyboards and percussion so far.

That is 100% correct..signed contract and all.

Out of morbid curiosity, is there any provision in these contracts that lets them (or whichever band) back out after they've signed, or is it (theoretically) legally actionable at this point? (Not that I'd think you would, mind you.)

What happens to a band that pulls this ... do they ever get invited back?

So what if the albums' not coming out yet? And if the band doesn't know about it, why not contact them and get them to overrule their manager? I'm sure they don't pay him to back out of signed contracts.

They wanted to do ProgPower to kick off their tour to promote the new album. If it's not ready, they have to postpone the whole tour. Not giving them an excuse, but to pay the cost of coming over and not actually do the tour is probably not possible if they want to come back to promote the album when it does come out.

Still a shitty way to handle it.

Didn't something like this happen with Volbeat as well? That sucked, but Mustasch tore down the damn venue. I'll have to check out blackguard now...
Sounds like Ensiferum. A fitting replacement.

And people get on Turisas case about being gimmicky? Lol. How is Turisas gimmicky while BG isn't? Or any band with an 'act' for that matter?

While I'm not really a Turisas fan, what a crappy way to handle the situation. I feel bad for Glenn and those who were really looking forward to seeing them.

A little disappointed that Turisas won't be playing, but since they weren't on the original bill I was sold on the show before they were announced. I've seen Blackguard twice at the Masquerade in Atlanta, once opening for Ensiferum and once for Epica. Having heard some of their music before the concert I can't say that I was too excited to see them perform. That being said they completely turned my expectations on their head. The lead singer has an amazing amount of energy on stage and it's hard not to enjoy watching them perform.

To back up the comments that have already been made, Blackguard's live performance absolutely *dwarfs* the album. I've seen them live five or six times, every time they've come to San Francisco, and they put on an absolutely amazing show. They're finishing up a new album right now, and it'll probably be a huge step up, now that they've refined their sound with so much touring. Fans of Turisas are disappointed, no doubt, but these guys will definitely bring some energy!

While this sucks (I LOVE Turisas and absolutely loathe Blackguard), I find it funny that somehow Turisas is called "gimmick metal" while Blackguard isn't. That's just classic. Turisas at least have viking heritage and such, and play that up with their stage setup and stage clothes, not to mention their music. Blackguard doesn't have a drop of pirate blood in them and yet they play up that gimmick. Granted, they aren't Swashbuckle, but goddamn, they aren't that far off. The idiocy of these posts are getting worse, is there something in the air?

I was really looking forward to seeing Turisas, but it was never a decision maker for going. That really sucks on multiple levels.

I have no clue about Blackguard, other than what I've read on this board.

Blackguard ey? No Turisas? Blagh. Blackguard seems to be the new SW Into Eternity, they seem to be at every local show I go see now. They might be fun but I've neglected to bother seeing them live, mainly because I figured they'd be some shitty deathcore band. Have I been wrong? I guess if they're back again I'll give them a shot.

Really fucking sucks as I was looking forward to seeing Turisas more than anyone on the roster. I really wanted to sponsor them. I'll give Blackguard a chance though, for sure. Any particular reason you went with the replacement rather than just extending sets/shortening the day and offering 'blind-sponsors' the oppertunity to sponsor a band who might have been open? Just curious.

edit: reading through these comments, it sounds like Blackguard will be fun as fuck live. I really hope so!
