Twin Axe Attacks, best guitar 1-2 combo's

That's true. Bastards is BY FAR the best Motorhead disc IMO. The presence of 2 guitars improved their sound. It's too bad it didn't last long enough and they came back to a power trio.

Motorhead's two guitar attack actually dates back to Orgasmatron......
(To get technical, it would be the studio recording of KILLED BY DEATH for the NO REMORSE compilation).

Bruce Franklin/Rick Wartell

Holy hell!!!!!!!!!
How the heck did this duo not come to my mind first and foremost.

This duo creates such a unique sound and heaviness that even Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield "tried" to copy their sound.

Just a fun little TROUBLE fact..........
One time when TROUBLE rolled through CA (may have even been headlining over Megadeth's first show ever), Kirk and James went on stage after their set to write down their amp settings to try to match their sound.

It sucks so bad that the upcoming Trouble disc will most likely be ruined by the subpar vox of the actual "singer"...Such a shame...I can't understand what the guys in the band hear in him to keep him onboard...

For sure, I really liked ABIGAIL and THEM from KD, great dual lead work...

Yes!! And I don't limit twin axe attacks to bands that have great guitar harmonies, but also to guitar teams that I love their different yet complimentary solo styles. It was always fun to pick out Murray vs. Smith, DeGarmo, vs. Wilton, and of course Denner vs. Shermann (and LaRocque).

WTF?!?!?!

No Michael Denner/Hank Shermann? (Mercyful Fate)
No Micheal Denner/Andy LaRocque? (King Diamond)
No Rick Pierpont/Matt Brookins? (Odin's Court) ;)

Man, what is this world coming to?

You're right, Denner/Shermann should have been on my list...

I don't know Odin's Court enough to put you guys on the list, unfortunately...

Awesome list- plus the Angra, Fates and several others mentioned (good call on your stuff too Rick). One band that always seems to be under the twin guitar radar is Lizzy Borden. There is definitely some excellent work there, regardless of what you think of the image or lyrics!
