Been wanting to order these 2 discs for quite awhile. Finally got it done. Anyway, discuss. Not comparitively speaking, just what everyone's thoughts are. BTW, the discs are; Perdition City-Ulver and Within the Realm of a Dying Sun--Dead can Dance.

Yeah it's on the Dead Can Dance tribute album called The Lotus Eaters.

The Gathering did an excellent cover of In Power We Entrust The Love Advocated (which is one of my favourite DCD songs) which is onthere as well. I generally don't like tribute albums though so I only have those two songs.

I finally heard Ulver's Themes from William Blake's Marriage of Heaven and Hell yesterday. . . I actually thought it was very weak and meandering. Certain good passages aside, it is the worst I've heard from them. Perdition City on the other hand is very enjoyable.

Definitely 2 of my all-time favorite bands. I would highly recommend Dead Can Dance's "Towards the Within", the band's best IMO. Also, Lisa Girrard solo is are beyong amazing.

If you end up liking Dead Can Dance, then you will most likely enjoy This Mortal Coil's first two albums which feature guest appearances by Brendon Perry and Lisa Gerrard. Great and underheard records that were truly alternative when they came out. While you're at it, look in on other 4AD gems from the 80s including Throwing Muses first CD (an absolute must have), and Cocteau Twins first seven albums and their CD-single collection boxed set. God, I wish I were hearing all of these for the first time again!

from what I've heard, Aion is my fav DCD cd.

Does anyone have a guess at what "Trick 007" means (on the side of the Perditon City case). 7th Ulver release perhaps?

Well, dammit, this sums up exactly what I was going to say.

If you can find the live DVD of Toward The Within, that's also fantastic. My other favourite DCD disc would be Into The Labyrinth.

Lisa Gerrard's first album (The Mirror Pool) and one of her more recent ones (Immortal Memory) are both stellar. I don't like the second one so much. :erk:
