Under standing polish NSBM Burzum and Graveland.

I could never under stand why there is such a big NSBM movement in Poland, Varg has two polish parents, and was born in Poland witch is a Slavic country yet he preaches about “Aryan Hygiene”? At the same time Grave land, a Slavic band from Poland sings about Vikings and Nordic folklore. Can some one please explain to me what I am missing here? Don’t these people know that Nazis (German national socialist party) hated Slaves, and in particular invaded Poland the first chance they got? The main reason I am posting this is not because I endorse NSBM and think Polish people are inferior, the opposite I dislike any nationalism and would like to under stand how they came to the conclusion that they should sing about Scandinavian folklore and why they would not right lyrics about there Slavic folklore?

I don`t know Graveland, but I would guess they write about scandinavian folklore because of the following reason: IF ITS SCANDINAVION[sic], ITS GRIM AND NECRO!!! Remember, slavic folklore, even with the tale of Bluebeard(about a murderous tyrant that marries a little girl), is not grim and necro enough to warrant a black-metal band making music about it. It`s sad that the genre has to be like that. A comparison might be drawn to the Otaku, who are more Japanese than the people in Japan. Be proud of your national heritage!

To me it seems like a lot of all those bands that sing (or scream) about northern mythology and stuff like that do it because they've heard/seen others do it. "Hey, such and such band sing about this stuff. Let's do that as well, 'cause then we'll be cool and we'll be true black metal". Kind of the bandwagon thing or fashion if you would call it that. Most people wouldn't be thinking the 80's are cool nowadays (and I'm not talking about 80's metal and stuff like that) if it weren't fashionable. 5 years ago everybody thought the 80's were gross, now they don't anymore 'cause it's cool to think the 80's are cool.

Neo-nazis are almost in all cases school-dropouts, people with learning disorders, bullies that fail at life. With rising poverty and unemployment, more of these turn to neo-nazism because that gives them something to fight for, someone to blame and people to beat up. You must realize that anyone who endorses neo-nazism is not right in his/her head and needs a reality check when it comes to science(racial superiority is proven wrong). Varg is no exception...

That is so true. I have noticed this happening as I have always had a fascination for the 80's and lately it seems that just more and more people now think it's cool though even like three years ago people were still laughing at it. It's the same thing in 80's metal too, for some people.

Right. You've got it all wrong buddy.. go to "natall.com" and see if "neo-nazis" are high-school dropouts and bums. No shit, but to most of us here, they could be philosophers (most of their top leaders are highly educated.. the founder had a Ph.D in Physics, and they are also encouraging members to educate themselves because of that bad image). I recommend you do a research on their movement, you'll be amazed.

Remember the key thing of National Socialist philosophy.. the movement adapts, changes in various ways but it stays the same in its goal. From what I've read, these people are uniting all European people into one. Today, all you have to be is to be of European heritage (100% European) to join the movement.. none of that "Slavs are mongoloids" stuff from 30's and 40's.

And by the way, there's a shitload of Slavic NSBM bands and they do sing about Perun, Svarog, Dazhbog and other Slavic gods and generally Slavic culture.. it's not all Norse obbsession.

Slavic culture and mythology isn't all that 'soft.' Where do you think vampires and werewolves came from?
