Welkin Entertainment Presents

BANE OF ISILDUR
AEON OF HORUS (ACT)
EMPYREAN (QLD)

ALICE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD GLASS

Date: Friday, July 10
Venue: The Bald Faced Stag (345 Paramatta Rd., Leichardt)
Doors: 8pm
Entry: $12

Like a thundering storm from the south BANE OF ISILDUR bring their brand of 'triumphant war metal' howling out of the cold to The Bald Faced Stag this July 10. Heavily inspired by Nordic mythology, yet still undoubtedly Australian, Bane Of Isildur successfully merge the old aspects of black metal with the newer elements of war metal including elements of melody and technicality.

Joining them on the night and bringing with them their amazing brand of progressive death metal are AEON OF HORUS from Canberra, fresh from touring across the country playing with the likes of Satyricon, Alarum, Ne Obliviscaris and more in support of their debut album ‘The Embodiment of Darkness and light’.

EMPYREAN (QLD) return to Sydney as part of their ‘Quietus’ Australian tour (out now through Prime Cuts/Riot). Having been proclaimed the #2 Australian metal album of 2008 by readers of metalobsession.net, the release of ‘Quietus’ has seen Empyrean gain a dedicated following Australia wide as well as coveted support slots for such legendary acts as Morbid Angel and Satyricon in recent months.

Opening up the night is the exciting deathcore band ALICE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD GLASS, ruthlessly fusing tech-death metal and hardcore, creating a menacing brand of modern death metal.

Anyone going to any good gigs this weekend?

I'm kind of keen to catch SYDONIA@ The Corner Hotel supporting Mammal, though I'm not a huge Mammal fan (though they are good live) so trying to work out whether it's worth paying $20 to potentially only see 30minutes of Sydonia... :/

You may as well, if you've got nothing else to do. :p

No gigs this weekend for me. Money sucks when you don't have it. Though I don't think there's any on that I'd want to go to anyway.

Presents

DREADNAUGHT (VIC)
SWITCHBLADE
BE’LAKOR (VIC)

DARKER HALF
FROM WINTER'S GRACE

Date: Saturday, August 8
Venue: The Bald Faced Stag
Address: 345 Paramatta Rd., Leichardt
Entry: $15
Doors: 8:00pm

Since their inception more than 15 years ago, Melbourne’s DREADNAUGHT have firmly established themselves as a cornerstone of the Australian heavy rock scene. Having treaded the fine line between rock and metal for the majority of their career, the launch of their latest album ‘[D->0]’ sees Dreadnaught traversing decidedly heavier territory. Proclaimed by metalobsession.net as “undoubtedly their most well rounded and complete release to date… the best release of their career… a highlight of the year so far”.

Sydney's SWITCHBLADE are no strangers to the Australian metal scene. After wrapping up a hugely successful national tour for the release of their second album "Invictus Infinitum", the band are back to show their hometown Sydney crowd why the album is being hailed as "one of best Australian metal releases for this year" (blistering.com) and "easily one of the most accomplished Australian metal releases of this decade." (Loud Australia Magazine) Mixed in the USA by Grammy Award winning producer Neil Kernon and featuring a blistering guest solo by Nevermore's Jeff Loomis, "Invictus Infinitum" is in stores now through AmpHead Music.

They are joined on the night by the dark, melodic death metal band from Melbourne- BE’LAKOR. Having quickly come to be regarded as one of Australia’s more promising and creative metal acts, they draw influences from the natural world and the perpetual struggle between destruction and life. Be’lakor creates songs that take the listener on a compelling journey. Their highly anticipated second album, Stone’s Reach, was released on June 20 through Prime Cuts Music/Riot and this marks the Sydney leg of their Stone’s Reach Australian tour.

Also playing on the night are the amazing DARKER HALF and FROM WINTER'S GRACE!
