Utter Disaster - Denver Concert - Annette to hospital

Oh

SHIT!

A cyst in her liver???

That is very bad. She needs to get that checked immediately.

Well, seeing as how a cyst large enough to cause vomiting and nausua is usually caused by an underlying condition... *sighs*

According to Wiki, she's got all the symptoms of liver cancer, but, the problem with that is that she's not going to develop it without an underlying condition, such as cirrosis of the liver or hepatitis B or C, and sorry, going to get so yelled at here, but I think it's got to do with her getting those tattoos.

^ That's hardly a reason to yell at you. It's a valid concept. I don't know where she got each of her tattoos, and it only takes one screw up to get something nasty from one. That's why I only use my one tattoo guy, I know he takes care of his shit. When you just go out wandering about and decide, "hmm, I think I'll get a tattoo from a stranger today" you take a risk. Now, that's not to say you should live in fear of a new tattoo artist/shop, but you do need to be cautious. It's basically a medical procedure - You're having a permanent alteration made to your body, and you'll have an open would which will need to heal afterward - So you should look at it as such and make sure things are sanitary. If she got one of those out on tour under less than ideal conditions, she could very well have caught something nasty from it.

But it is also possible that it is something else entirely. She may have a family history of liver cancer, or perhaps she just has a weak liver, or it was damaged when she had that eating disorder back in the day (diet pills maybe?), so it's hard to really pin down what it might be. It might even be benign. There are other things which can mimic liver cancer, so we might jsut be going all webmd here and blowing it way out of proportion. Let's just hope she has a biopsy soon to find out for sure. If it is cancer, she needs to get it taken care of as soon as possible. If it's not, then I should think the relief would be worth a pause in the tour.

Taimi, you know we don't yell at folks here. And it's not a totally foreign concept for people to get hepatitis through tattoos.

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with that comment. That was not cool after Elize and Alissa risked looking like fools to bail out her ass. I understand that some of the annoying trolls are probably saying they should replace her with Elize and so on, which is the last thing she wants to read I'm sure given all the Tarja trolls still harassing her, but come on! What the hell were the boys supposed to do? call her when the doctors were working on her to ask "oh hey, is this okay?"

Exactly; they had to make a snap decision in the moment, and did what they had to do. As I mentioned earlier, the band has had to cancel shows here before due to Anette falling ill, so I can see where they wanted to avoid doing that again if they could. It seems no matter what decision they made, there are gonna be those who are unhappy with it. If they'd cancelled the show, all the fans in Denver would be upset because they got cheated out of a show while the rest of the tour rolls on. Then of course, doing what they did and carrying on, people are upset that the show was not up to standards. So yeah, it was a catch-22 no matter how you sliced it. Maybe they will get the chance to make it up to the fans in Denver sometime down the road in the future. There's been no word yet of when this tour will end or if they will come back again before it's done, so you never know.

Well, I've had people gripe me out before of pointing things out. I'm thinking it was the one she got on her foot. This isn't an insult to those of you that are in Europe, but Eastern European shops aren't the cleanest, and if she did contract something, then yeah... nasty.

About the eating disorder- she has stated that she had something like anorexia.

But I don't think it's benign, especially if it's big enough to press against the bile-ducts.

What a shitty comment from Annette. How about a HUGE thank you to those girls for bailing her out and giving the fans SOMETHING.

Finally a REAL reason to not like Annette! lol

Anette... I didn't like her before beacause of some weirdness, and this? Oh, her respect is digging its way throug to china.

And not just that, but Tuomas and the boys have had to be patient with her before. Remember the walk-off in South America?

I'm amazed the hospital discharged her after saying they found a cyst on her liver. There's something missing from all this. What the hell did they say?

Well, I don't know where you live hun, but here in the US hospitals just want you out of there are soon as possible so they can get money from a new patient. If Anette told them not to do anything for it, and was able to walk out of the building, they wouldn't keep her. It is hard to find an ethical doctor here these days. I, personally, would have strapped her to the bed and demanded that she get a biopsy before leaving. But that's a bit aggressive, I guess.

I haven't like Annette since the day I read that she auditioned for NW without knowing who they even were.

^I'm sure she wasn't the first person to do that, and quite frankly, I think hiring a fan wouldn't have been a good move for them. The person would have been too busy having stars in their eyes over them to be realistic and conduct business properly. It was probably a good thing she didn't know who they were, because the pressure of being compared to Tarja would have been too great for anyone who went into it knowing the band already. That's just my take on it.

Come to think of it, I've heard of quite a few people becoming fans of the music through sending in audition tapes without knowing them firsthand. So I'm certainly not going to damn them for it. Whether you've come into the fold since day one or just yesterday, better late than never! ;)

There are always gonna be those who just hate Anette and will look for any good reason to justify it. I find it hard to hate anyone I don't know, myself. I mean, there are some things she does that I may not be crazy about, but then again, there were things Tarja did that I wasn't always crazy about either.

^This. Especially if she didn't have insurance here or an insurance that our money-hungry medical industry doesn't recognize.

I hope that these things being mentioned aren't wrong with Anette, she does have a baby/was pregnant/was breastfeeding etc :(

Which I doubt she does. Doesn't Sweden have universal health care? I think they do, and I doubt the US would want to honor their eebil socialist health care.

I was at the show and it was hardly a disaster. The girls did their best and sounded great. Mistakes were going to happen.....it's belaboring the obvious (and a cheap shot) to even mention it in a negative way.

My only disappointment was not having a longer set even in spite of the circumstances. I wouldn't have cared if they just played music. I enjoyed what I saw and heard immensely. Still, I don't feel shortchanged at all. The fact they did a show at all is awesome......how many times have you heard of situations where entire shows were canceled because of something much less impactful?

Perspective from someone who is in a rock band and has had to deal with stuff like this personally: We have had at least 2 shows where my band (a five piece hard rock band with two guitars, singer, bass and drums...I'm drums) have had to soldier on as a 4 piece due to circumstances beyond our control. I had a gig earlier this year where I had a high fever and felt like I was going to pass out, but I still managed to finish the set. We did two shows in two nights when our lead guitarist was in so much back pain he had to sit down to play.

Simply stated, in this situation you have to think of the fans. The show must go on. I don't fault the band for doing what they did and I don't fault Anette for saying what she did...those feelings are totally natural. I'd feel the same if my band replaced me on a show where I was ill and could not play. Still, a band is like a team, and you still have a show to do and a crowd to try and entertain. You have to try as best as you can. The bottom line is to think of the fans.

Long story short: There is no instruction manual for this situation and the band handled it the best they could. Either way they would have gotten skewered for it by fans and the press as it is one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations. Here's hoping Anette will be OK and they can finish the tour, but if not, I don't want to see them risk her health.

Just a little perspective from someone who has seen things from the band's side of the stage, as I have gone through it myself.

Damn... I'm jealous.

I would've loved to seen Elize and Alyssa on stage with NW.

Omg...

Okay, when you only get to see your FAVORITE band once every 3 or 4 years, and when they finally come, the singer can't perform...so they get a backup singer from Kamelot to sing on 4 songs, and they are missing notes and timing and lyrics....and then the other 3 or 4 songs they perform are completely void of female lyrical content...you got a subpar performance.

I wouldn't have minded Elize or Alyssa being on stage if they knew the songs, but they didn't.

I paid $100+ for 2 tix and waited in line for 2 hours to get good seats, only to have a craptastic concert.

I'm sorry, but I'm a paying customer. I can definitely see Snowy Owl's side of things...they did what they could...but that still doesn't mean my $100 gets me a shit show while every other city gets a full one. It's unfair.

1) Is it too much to ask why doesn't Marco know all the lyrics to NW songs? He IS a frontman for Tarot afterall. Especially on something like Planet Hell! Instead of him singing all the words, we just get an incomplete song. lol yes, I know this is a silly gripe, but sheesh...you'd think after all these years and all these performances, he would have all the songs memorized. I'm not a musician though, so I don't know.

2) I think we should get some kind of refund, or at the very least a 50% off concert at the end of their tour. SOMETHING that says "hey, we love our fans, and are going to give you a finished product instead of a piecemeal one"
