Varg Vikernes: "I Am Ready For Society".

He's served his time I guess... but he did brutally murder a relatively innocent person, and people don't just stop thinking like that. He has some serious mental problems, as evidenced by his involvement with the neo-nazi groups, church burnings, and you know... the brutal murder and what not.
Bet he's back in within 5 years for something or another.

He said he just wants to live on his farm and be with mother Earth and be away from this "hell on Earth"

Yeah, all he wants to do is sit on his farm with his wife and write music and books. His appearance, actions and statements recently all reflect this.

The fact that he hasn't associated himself with his old political beliefs and white supremacist groups for years reflects that he is no longer interested in those things. He's shown a lot more interest in being with his family and children and minding his own business, and has made these things the focal point of every one of his leaves from prison for the last few years. I think that the skeptical people will be eating their own words later on when they discover how much of a normal person he really is.

So did Bard Faust and Jon Nödtveidt, and they had less defensible reasons for doing so, yet people hardly mention either of them compared to Varg. They also served less time, yet there was more controversy over Varg's sentence than either of those. Norway's legal system would have had Varg out in a few years anyway, so this isn't really a big deal and there's no reason to punish him for crimes that he hasn't committed yet when there's no real indication that he'll commit them at all.

For someone who constantly berates people for taking their posts seriously, you sure don't know how to judge when someone's serious; either that, or you like to reply unnecessarily to obviously joking posts. ;)

But I agree with you, obviously.

I replied to it to preempt people who would actually say that seriously from having anything to say. It's obviously a joke, but you know very well that some people would say or have said that type of thing. I already know your opinions on this entire issue very well, so it's not like it would be conceivable for you to have been serious.

Like I said, I think he has served his time, and he deserves to be free right now. But, there is no doubt that before he went to prison he was psychotic. Now, if he proves me wrong and lives a normal life, that's fantastic, I'm happy for him and I hope he does well.
What I can say, is do you honestly think that he's going to seek out these groups and say hate filled garbage when he is so intent on being free? I have no doubt that he wants to be free and be with his family, but it's hard for me to believe that all this that he stood so strongly for so long would just disappear like that. Being free is going to tempt him back to doing what he once did. With someone who has had a clear history of at least minor mental illness, I'm not sure he can resist such temptation.

He was an impressionable teenager who was part of a culture of group mentality and was spurred on by the attention that he received.

Exactly. And he is how old now? Some of the comments posted on Blabbermouth and here about how he shouldn't be released are just ridiculous. He is an adult now and has learned the error of his ways.

Varg should be happy he didn't murder anyone in America, or I think he would've been executed by now. It's interesting how vastly different the Norwegian justice system than the American one, but Europe is generally ahead of America in terms of social devlopment so maybe its for the better.

Also, I honestly think there are more criminals in America then in Norway.

Though I'm not sure.
