So I hear some loud music from downstairs- unusual, since I'm the only one in the house with a propensity to blast rock of any kind. When I head down to see what's up, I find that my younger brother has discovered the "40 Greatest Metal Songs" countdown on VH1. Being a bum, I stick around to soak in VH1's enlightened opinion.
Some fun facts:
-Papa Roach thinks that "bands don't come faster or heavier than Sepultura."
-Korn's Freak on a Leash was on there.
-Both of the above bands were higher on the list than Iron Maiden.
-Metallica's contribution was "Enter Sandman" off the black album. Metallica helpfully comment that the song is "simple" and "derivative," although they seem to think these things are good.
-The dude from Disturbed thinks Guns n' Roses is all about bludgeoning brutality.
I got bored way before the second half came on, so I can only guess where it went from there. Funny, anyway.
Now, I know making "favorite" threads is a bad habit (the DM one is still semi-alive down there, I think) but I have to wonder... what would you guys choose as the actual Top 40 metal songs?
